Official Amsterdam/Netherlands Questions Thread

I'm gutted that Rokerij 3 (the big gothic churchy one near Leidseplein) has closed. Was our absolute favourite place to chill out in Dam.

Random question, do people know which coffeeshops (if any) do not sift their weed over screens or in pollinators? When I was at Barney's last year one somewhat silly friend got talked into buying the liberty haze, their most expensive bud. The main thing I noticed about it was it was ridiculously covered in crystals, like huge clumps of them dropping off it all over the place- the tangerine dream (which I stand by as being nice tasting if expensive) was nowhere near like it. I suspect to justify the very high price, the liberty haze hadnt been tumbled for pollen. So, anyone know if any coffeeshops don't sift their weed? Maybe I'm being a bit stupid and its not as common as I think, but most potheads swear that it is de rigeur over there

Heading over to Europe for Time Warp in April from Australia and we will be stopping in at Amsterdam for a few days (Monday April 15th - Thursday 18th). Can anyone recommended some decent bars or clubs that will be open? Music wise we are only into house or Techno, even a night at the strippers would be good. Thanks in advanced

for quality i would say grey area but the que is usually out the door for most of the day and they usually close early because they have sold enough aahah. Amnezia is only around the corner and is also decent but their prices are ridiculous like 17 euro a gram for their best sativa!

No price discussion.

If anyone is staying in leisesetraat, there's a coffeeshop alongside a canal called easy times. You should deffo hit it up its a lovely chilled out shop with comfy chairs.

Oh and a question...
Right next to the main red light district in dam, there is a church, between this church and the corner of where the windows start (the part where the big shady alley and the steps down to view prossys) there is a coffeeshop right next door to a warm food shop facing the church I think. Can anyone tell me the name of this coffeeshop, I spent a lot of my time here but never caught the name?

Nice one curious_24. Never been there before (that I can remember!). Anyone have any other suggestions of where to head whilst we are over there? Open to suggestions ranging from general tourist stuff to cafes, clubs (we like an eclectic mix of music from trance/trance to jazz/soul), pubs etc.

I've done a lot of the general tourist stuff - Anne Frank house, Heineken museum, flower market, Ice bars, sex shows/museums. But any new suggestions are more than welcome!

I'm staying not too far from Damrak but know my way around fairly well.

Also I've heard magic mushrooms are illegal but truffles are available in headshops and are similar, anyone got any information on this?

Ta.

I'd say go to the outer bits of Amsterdam. There's usually some smaller coffee shops with nicer atmospheres and cheaper weed. And yeah you won't have any trouble finding truffles, trust me. There's this smart shop near Hunters called Kokkipolop (or something I cannot remember how to spell it for shit), if you find that go in there the guys are really helpful and you're allowed to smoke weed in there while you browse the shop if you've bought something (which can be a bottle of Apple Juice for a few euros). Lovely shop. And they have a little bar where you can get hot chocolate, cakes, tea etc.

There's a little coffee shop I found somewhere when I went off on my own for a few hours that had the nicest Super Lemon Haze. I just hope I find it again.

@ Nolys - That coffee shop is "Old Church". The upstairs is pretty nice for chilling out, only problem is they make you buy weed each and every visit. Can't smoke stuff you've bought elsewhere.

going to amsterdam in 6/2013

hi guys i am going to amsterdam with another bl'er friend. looking for suggestions on things to do in amsterdam and london. will update this thread as i plan on my vacation.

Go off on your own at some point and explore. Just walk about while stoned and see where you go/what you find.

Getting lost in Amsterdam is wonderful.

Have your hotel details written down with you, anything can happen (in a good way) in Dam. I came out of a club in Rotterdam without any clue as to where I was supposed to be going, described the hotel to a very patient taxi driver and he found it :)

A friend lost 52 people within the 1st hour of arriving in Dam and never found them or his hotel again all weekend lol, he had a great time tho.

Is it the one where as you walk in, the counter is to the right with a selection of bongs? At the very back there is a triangular table? What me and my buddys done was 1 person bought a bag, smoked that 1 gram then smoked our own stuff. The price was reasonable in this shop for its location anyway. Their afghan kush at the top of the price list was pretty strong too

Yeah that sounds like the place. There's a big spiral staircase next to the counter that takes you up to the toilets and first floor seating.
