Official Amsterdam/Netherlands Questions Thread

I Am Going To Amsterdam For Two Days...Where Should I Go? What Should I Do?!

Hey everyone! I am going to England/Europe for a week :D Im really excited because I havent been to Europe before.

But ill cut to the chase, I'm going with my brother in law and hes awesome, great guy, and he asked ME if i wanted to go to Amsterdam and i was surprised when he asked cause he knows i smoked and all my history of smoking but i didnt think he would be up for it. But we are going there for two days.

So i want to ask, what SHOULD I DEFINITELY DO while i am there? What is legal... just cannabis and prostitution correct? Just asking to make sure .

But I know whats legal then, unless there is something else...so with that being said and me not knowing Amsterdam and I'm sure many of you do know it WHAT PLACES SHOULD I DEFINITELY DEFINITELY GO TO? and WHAT SHOULD I DEFINITELY DO?

Give me some names of the best coffee shops, if there are other places I need to go, tell me! I want to go and do WHATEVER i can since i am going to be in Amsterdam , so why not?? Who knows if I will ever go back? I will, im sure, but incase I didnt. I want to experience the best of it.

Im guessing you both are serious that I should actually have sex with a prostitute while im there lmao... do they get like std checks n shit? If so........ i may have to do that if I can with my brother in law there and it not being strange or weird .. i mean its my sisters husband hahah.
plus ill be with a girl-friend in england for 3 days.

^Last time I was in Amsterdam Dampkrings bud was a bit of a let down, but their hash is usually one of the best. My favourite coffeeshops are:
1) Grey Area (Reasonable pricing, cool friendly staff, and sweet super strong sativas)
2) Barneys (I hate to say it but the best buds. The staff are almost always arrogant pricks, who are there to make as much cash as possible and don't like you looking at more than a couple of strains before you buy. And the prices are lame. It is also not a brilliantly comfortable place to toke up)
3) 420 Cafe (The grade here is alright, you can get some cliche strains like Jack Herrer, NYC Diesel, Blueberry etc, at very reasonable prices. It is also one of the best environments to sit and smoke in i've found. They have board games, vaporisers, and the drinks aren't over priced. There is also a bar next door that will let you smoke green in there, while drinking some super chilled Heinekin with expats and locals :D)
4) Magic (Ridiculously difficult to find, but worth it. It's more a locals coffeeshop than anything, but it's run by Moroccans and their hash is the cheapest i've found in Amsterdam - last time I went in there I think they were doing 5gs of Afghan and various moroccon hashs for 25-30 euros. If you're only there for a couple of days though, maybe give this one a miss cus you aren't going to need 5 grams of hash by any stretch of the imagination)
5) Hill Street Blues (The weed here is nothing to write home about, don't bother buying it. I've only added this to the list as it is realistically the only coffeeshop worth sitting in in the whole of the redlight district)

Whatever you do don't buy weed from the Grasshopper, it is shit and overpriced. In the summer drinking outside is alright there, but expensive. Don't go to any of the Bulldog establishments - they are run by cunts, their weed is dirt and most of it has been rolled to make isolator, and they are full of exactly the kind of people who will ruin your trip. Some other fun places that don't sell weed, but do allow you to smoke are 'The Green Light Area' and 'Lost', who both do shisha pipes that they'll happily load with any extras you want while you lie down on their comfy sofas.

I don't have any experience with prostitutes i'm afraid, so I can't be of much assistance there :)
 
Kadinsky which is down an alleyway off the Damrak.I think its also called another name.Excellent hash in there and the price is also good.Trans Himylayan is their most famous smoke.
 
I thought the dutch were so sick of tourists that now only they can enjoy the otherwise illegal attributes of amsterdam?

Has that not come into effect yet? Was i misinformed??
 
I thought mushrooms had been banned tho I believe a few places still sell fresh truffles.

I thought they were banning tourists from weed shops too.

What this man says is absolutely spot on advice. I'd add Grey Area and The Greenhouse, some people will slate the greenhouse but they have some bloody unreal hash in there so trust!
 
As an alternative to Dampkring you might want to keep an eye out for De Tweede Kamer, which is a smaller place which is I think run by the same people. I found it by accident- the smell was a bit of a giveaway- and their super silver haze was an absolute motherfucker of a smoke. Under the microscope it was just a twisted mass of trichomes with some almost incidental vegetable matter underneath. No question of it having been tumbled. Very friendly staff when I was there last a couple of years ago.

Edit: Grey Area gets a thumbs up here too.

I've been several times and the first thing I do is go and buy an 8th of silver bubble from Grey Area :D I just realised which coffeeshop de tweede kamer is after a google image search, and i'll definitely second that recommendation! I forgot to mention it earlier but I really love Siberie! They do real tea in huge glasses for like 2 euros, and it's full of awesome talkative and friendly locals, most of whom bring their dogs who are fun to play with when you're high (or even if you're not haha). [edit] I also forgot about Green Place, which sells ridiculously strong hydro non-organic weeds that blow your head off. Their purple wreck puts you right to sleep ;)

Anyone else noticed how friendly and well trained Dutch dogs are? The stoner cat in Dampkring central is a must see!

I'm going myself this Friday.. With the Netherlands being the Mecca of MDMA I'd like to be sampling their goods, ideally those 200mg+ speakers. Does anyone on here know about availability of pills in the clubs and also of decent clubs in or around Amsterdam?? Nothing pretentious like, nice chilled happy place, not to fussed about music style to much as the pills will do the dancing for me..!
 
Don't shag a window prostitute. By all means have a wander round the red light district but I think you'll find it awkward more than anything.

Mushrooms are illegal but truffles are not. Worth trying the truffles if you fancy a light 4 hour trip.
