Official Amsterdam/Netherlands Questions Thread

if your talking about the charlie/x lads who whisper at you on the RLD streets i say at best a 10% chance of getting real mdxx pills and even less chance of coke being in the wrap they will try and sell you.

get yourself a testing kit and tell them the logo of the pills you are looking for and test the pill before you hand over your cash.a better chance if you get to know somebody in a bar/club/hostel.

We don't want to get into sourcing here, I'm sure people can work out who seems trustworthy.

I was talking to my friend who lives in the Netherlands, and he told me that the mayor of Amsterdam has already said that he won't enforce the weed "passport" rules.

I had heard this, I just wish we could get more than heresay that Amsterdam is going keep being the Mecca for weed. I dunno what i'd do without my bi-annual trip!

No, I was saying that the effects of truffles and mushrooms are much of a muchness.

These "mushroom chocolates"... to me, it seems likely that they're infused with some 4-subbed tryptamine RC rather than actual mushroom extract. Got nothing to back that up, just a hunch.

Nah i'm quite certain that it's mush, i've made bars myself and it tastes just the same. I'd be happy if some RC's were more available in Netherlands haha... Shame the smartshops died down a bit the past few years, the few smartshops that sell those "chocolates" sell them under the counter. Why not grow mushrooms yourself if you have the mushroom kits eh :D!

And yes don't believe everything that you read; amsterdam council (and many more) is indeed very stubborn about the fact;

The point is there are some retarded christian political parties advocating null-tolerance to weed and the drug policy/gedoogbeleid but they barely have any "chairs" so to say... They can whine all they want as long as they don't get the majority I doubt we will see a lot of change.

It's already suggested that foreigners won't be excluded from the shops anymore

Exactly one month ago, they closed thirteen of the fourteen Maastricht coffeeshops for all foreigners except Germans and Belgians.

Research by OWP Research shows that the number of visitors in the coffee shops have since declined by 16.3 percent. But the number of street deals has actually increased, say the coffee shop owners and local residents... I wonder what the city prefers, a controlled enviroment (+ taxed!) or dealers (rip offs!) scourging on the streets. They lost a rough 30 million euroes in sales and 345 full-time jobs.

They want to push the weed pass through aswell (utter date being 1 january 2012 for the south of Netherlands) and make coffeeshops closed clubs with a maximum of 2000 members, I doubt that it will go through but you never know... Many coffeeshop holders have told the government that this on too short notice; it's impossible to implent registration in a rough two months, even maastricht agrees on this... Not only that their have to be made new agreements with all the cities and police. They also demand that only residents of said city can become member of the club so if this goes through even the Dutch will be discriminated in their own country (cities without coffeeshops!?)

When it comes to the gedoogbeleid a lot of parties talk a lot of bullshit without it being remotely true or passable. You have to keep in mind that most of these are just proposals and that they still have to pass through the "first room" and "second room" and afterwards get a publication in "state magazine" .

Another example of the sheer stupidity of some politicians here: a few weeks ago there was a suggestion to make a distinction inbetween weed containing 15+ percent THC, proposing that the weed be considered a harddrug if that is the case. They also demanded that police would control samples and close shops if it'd rise above said limit (hard drug sale being forbidden) . Funny thing is that they are actually proposing a criminal offence then; a coffeeshop does not have "opium exemption" meaning that it is forbidden to hand out samples, they also don't have access to a laboratorium so they can't possibly test their weed themselves. Not only that juridistically this just isn't manageable...
.
Addiction prevention and the GGZ believes these are premature actions and suggest controlled/regulated growth of plants over this proposal.

I am off to the dam next weekend for my stag do. (I know, I can't fucking wait!). I am 90% sure we've arranged a hook up for pills when we arrive, and we're thinking of going raving on the Saturday night. We're debating between Studio 80 (slam are playing) and Trouw (unknown residents playing). Has anyone got any views on the best tech house/techno night on a Saturday?

Laters.

Lucky bastard. Studio 80 is highly rated and bang in the middle of the city. Slam are playing? Soma night. That would be me right there. Seen them countless times and they never disappoint.

Both are good so no lose situation.Maybe try Trouw I would say if you have seen slam before.

Nice one guys, thanks for the reply's. Any ideas on the door policy's? There will be 16 of us on the stag. We're not that bad in terms of looking like a bunch of beer fuelled twats (I think!), but still, surely it might be tricky?

(My dealer has said he'll send me either blue crosses or elephants to the hotel, I am hoping for the elephants!)

Don't go all together and try to get a few women to walk in with ye.Amsterdam bouncers dont like big groups of men especially foreigners.

As a former bouncer on the Rembrandtsquare I must warn you; play it right and you'll get in, but it's tricky.

Dress properly for the evening. Don't be drunk already, or high for that matter. Be calm, not rowdy and have your most likeable mate talk to the bouncers. Slip 'm some cash [50 euro should do it] but don't make it too obvious or give 'm the feeling they can be bought off.

Obviously they can be bought off but if your group gives them a bad vibe, no amount of money will allow you entrance. Not if they're good doormen anyway.

Bring girls! Don't hog the door with your group, be respectful and rational.

If they still don't go for it, don't make a fuss. We used to be in contact with pubs next door and if you didn't get in at our place and be uncool about it, you had a hard time getting in anywhere in the neighbourhood.

Will be groom be in drag or something like that? If that's the plan, forget about it. I had to ask one group to leave after the barman pointed out the groom was wearing chaps without underwear.

Awkward, lol.

Anyway, have fun and good luck!

Well I just got back last night and it was absolutely epic. We went to Trouw Saturday night and it was superb. Had a mixture of blue crosses and Orange DJ's. The crosses were my favourite because they were just so damn clean! The club had a good vibe and the dutch clubbers were extremely friendly to us. We did think about Slam @ Studio 80, but had a feeling the door policy might be a bit too strict there in the centre of town, whereas Trouw is more on the outskirts. Was a good decision in the end.

As well as clubbing we also did one of those beer bike things, a lapdance bar and general tomfoolery! Brilliant.

I get married in 3 weeks, detox till then!!!

Has anyone on here been to the carnival in February in Eindhoven ? Whats it like...My wife has relations there and were thinking of going over for it.Any other general info on the area would be helpful too good pubs/clubs/restaurants etc.

The grades on my diploma will ultimately determine whether or not it was a good idea all things considered, but so far I'm loving studying in the Netherlands. Drugs are ubiquitous and available, high-quality, reasonably priced, and while they're far from universally tolerated there's far less of a social stigma attached to it. Also, the police and strangers on the street are far less likely to think you're up to something illegal, since legally you can be intoxicated on alcohol, cannabis and mushrooms while walking the streets - that leaves room for a whole lot of eccentric behavior which doesn't give rise to suspicions of illegal activity! :D

Studio 80 is my favourite club in Amsterdam... was there last month and had another great time. The bouncers are strict though and the search is heavy but that seems to be a theme over there. Trouw is also really good but prefer the intimacy of Studio 80. Managed to sample the Green Squirrels on our visit and they were strong! However not as euphoric / talkative / empathetic as I'd expected. Looking forward to sample other types on my next visit :-)
