Official 2013-2014 S&G Fantasy Football League v. THE LEAGUE IS UP

any idea of when the draft would be? only used yahoo before which i have no problems with . will espn allow me to set my board and autodraft in case im abroad at draft time ?
ps will this have some defensive players in it? or just your bog standard team defenses

lol yeah but you end up getting addicted, didnt play the last 2 years as I felt I wasnt watching the games for themselves and only thinking about whom I should or shouldnt have drafted or started

nothing ruins your sunday better than a fucking TD vulture RB

However seeing as the raiders are in their last year of suckage, I feel its ok to play this year and watch their games as none of those bums are a FF factor this year anyways

Might even have to watch the hall of fame game this weekend, thats how badly I need my fix now

Pretty sad state of affairs for an oakland fan when preseason are the only games you really enjoy cos you know they dont matter unlike the 10 or 11 losses that are coming up in the regular season

and dont get me started on young lance kiffin and what he is doing to the USC program

On a plus note we get to see Urban in action again this season in games that actually matter

The most often thing I hear about not wanting to play FF is that "it will take so much time." All you gotta do is set your line ups and check over trade requests. Whenever you are bored and on a computer, it gives you something to do. You can spend hours and hours reading, watching, thinking, making moves, etc. but it really isn't mandatory.

It is more fun the more people play, but usually you can only expect that kinda dedication in your private, local, leagues.

It's best to set up the league. Get everyone signed up. Get people to post on the leagues message board ALL the times they are available to draft, then someone figures out when to draft. Not everyone is going to make it though, not possible.

Yes, you can set up the auto-draft. It's much more fun to be there, but you don't need to do. The drafting interface on ESPN.com is sooo much better. ESPN FF is so much better than yahoo.

So there are 9 players right now, how many do you think we should have? Honestly, I think 10 is perfect. Anymore and there are going to be more people who dropout, it will be harder to manage. Most importantly, when the league gets to big you end up having to draft third stringers that you've never heard of.
 
People always drop out before draft day for one reason or another, so we need more than 10. Plus, in 10 man leagues there are way too many good options on the waiver wire, it decreases the overall value of stud players IMO.
 
I personally like more than 10. The problem is that the biggest hurdle for getting people to play is the time factor. Most people think it's going to take a ton of time. When there are more players and you have to learn and read about and follow players that aren't studs, a lot of people end up giving up because the workload is too much and it's harder.

That's not a problem for me though.

today's fantasy football culture finally gives me a sense of hipster life, or maybe I just feel old

I've been playing this shit since '98, before your friend's annoying girlfriend started replacing your friends in the league

count me out, only out of courtesy, I know i'll be the guy who has 4 players on the IR and 2 on a bye in my starting line-up by week ten

one league is enough for me, and only cause it keeps me in touch with friends since elementary school and for the chance of cash

all I care about is the rams, I might totally quit fantasy football after this year

have fun with it, I might start a game in S&G where a group of us all predict the records of each team, you can earn up to ten points per team, subtract a point for every win you're off by and get a bonus point for each accurate prediction
