Officers serving drug warrant shoot 60-year-old

A Hiram man is hospitalized in critical condition after he was shot while officers were trying to issue a narcotics warrant, Wednesday afternoon.

Corporal Ashley Henson with the Paulding County Sheriff's Office tells WSB agents with the Haralson-Paulding Drug Task Force had been investigating the house at 3850 Nebo Road for some time.

"When the agents arrived at the residence, they made contact with a 60-year-old white male," said Henson, "and when they made contact with him, he brandished some type of weapon.

At that point, agents opened fire on this individual, striking him."

The man, who has not been identified, was airlifted to an Atlanta hospital.

The man's wife and adult child were also in the home at the time.

"From what I've gathered thus far," said Henson, "there was not necessarily a verbal threat.

There was a brandishing of some type of weapon. I'm not exactly sure what type of weapon was brandished."

This seems to happen in Georgia alot. I remember when they killed the 90 year old grandmother after they falsified a search warrant.
