do or don't? to anyone out there with some straightedge parents that used to trip and smoke weed but have had to grow up and get a job+life and since have stopped all that.

OR

if anyone fits into the "currently successful former hippie" who lived the 60's and 70's and now had raised kids to the age of 20-30 who have access to these types of things. how would you feel about your kid offering you the once heralded white tabs that can carry you from universe to universe?=D

My mother was a total flowerchild, and still tells stories about how she used to trip on LSD and mescaline to find god during the 60's and 70's. I find the stories to be absolutely wonderful to hear, and ive asked her to trip with me before, but she has stated that she no longer feels it is the right thing to do as she is not sure how she would react nowdays with her brain chemistry the way it is. I found that to be a very nice answer, and let it be. Its deffinitely a shame though as I find using LSD or other psychedelics/empathogens to be a very useful tool in therapy.

The only other relative id want to trip with would be my uncle, but I doubt that'll ever happen.
My uncle was known as the drug kingpin of Scottsdale for quite some time in his youth. Hell, he use to carry around kilo's of Cannabis, as well as tons of LSD and DOM (as they were legal during his time).

His drug use got him into some crazy predicaments, and after 20 years (I think?) of being a mess, he went straight after his first wife passed away in a carwreck. He no longer uses, as he's "found god". (and when I say that, I mean he literally thinks he saw god and now see's "devils" and "the evil".)

Id still love to trip with him though as he's had a crazy life and could offer some deep insight to my own crazy life.

/family stories.

I am 23 right now, and last year I had a room mate who was 62. He is a 1000% bona fide old hippy right out of the 60's, and he LOVED tripping with us youngins again. He was all over it when we asked him if he'd be into tripping again. We tripped on 2C-E, 2C-I, 2C-T-7, 4-AcO-DMT, Mushrooms, and LSD together. He said he like the 2C drugs more than he liked LSD back in the day because, according to him, with LSD you could get totally ripped off, or it could be mind shatteringly strong and there was just way to much variability. I feel like today LSD is generally weaker, but more consistent....haven't heard of many "1 hit wonders" making the rounds. (by that i mean LSD where you REALLY REAALLY REALLLY don't need to take 2). 4-Aco-DMT was his favorite though.

I feel like this was relevant enough to your inquiry to warrant a response.

yeah man its all interesting ha. in NYC i managed to find some amazing one hit wonders where 2 hits could easily put you at a +4 on the Shulgin rating system so i can assure you it is out there in the wild still.

actually i just found some acid that my dealer said is "too good...seriously" that I should have on tuesday, super stoked !

most hippies already found god so they don't need acid anymore :/
how old are your parents? bodyfunctions and stae of mind with 60 aren't the same as with 20 d: I wouldn't take the responsibility.

hah your right they may have. i am in my 20's so im just not old enough to have not tripped for decades and then been offered the experience again.

by definition, a certain dose of a certain psychedelic can't be guaranteed to produce a +4 on the Shulgin scale. a +4 is a separate state, not just one step above +3. i'd say it's exponentially, fractally, or logarithmically greater.

OF COURSE a certain dose of a certain psychedelic cant guarantee a +4 on the Shulgin scale but that doesn't mean it won't produce that.

people are not all that different, if it is powerful enough for one it will be good enough for another of similar body-type

+it is dependent on usage frequency. if you have someone dropping 2 doses one day, then 3 the next, its completely likely day 2 will be weaker even though the dosage was greater.

the scale works by someone reading what the qualifications are for each level and then judging if their experience met those qualifications. obviously you can choose whether or not to believe another person had that experience or they are a fibber.

My dad was a pothead/occasional psychedelic user in his day. When I was growing mushrooms I showed him the process and progress of the art of cultivation. I offered to give him some but he refused :)

Depends a lot on your parents, obviously, but I'd say asking won't hurt. It would be fun if they said yes:\

My mother has even asked me to get her some acid. She's 43, so was never really a hippie in the hippie-era, but she's wishing she would have been. She's also really into alternative/new age stuff and eastern religions/philosophy and still does and loves mushrooms and she tried hawaian baby woodrose after I tried it. We talk a lot about drugs and experiences, new and old, which I'm incredibly happy about. The fact that the entire area of drugs isn't completely taboo as it is for many families and that we can discuss it has even strengthened our relationship.

I'd love to do mushrooms with my mother, really.

Do you talk to your parents about psychedelichs alot? Ask them if they'd like to do acid, worst case you'll get a "no thanks", no?

The reply I got from my mother when I got a hold of some acid and asked if I should get some for her was "no thanks, not right now.. I'd rather wait.", which was completely fine.

My parents used to trip on LSD. Not anymore though. My Mother is very straight-laced now. My Father is as well, though he still tokes and drinks alcohol on occasion. I have tried to convince them to trip with me, but they say that part of their life is over now. I can respect that, though I will never stop dosing.

This doesn't make sense to me. I thought "straight-edgers" were people who were actively against drugs?

Anyhow, question time:

Do your parents know about your drug use? If so, how much have you told them? Does this knowledge include psychs?

What kind of experience do you want to offer? Something deep and spiritual, or is this to simply be a bonding session? If the first, what are their alignments (so to speak)? If the second, how close are you to them?

"How far" did they go with psychedelics? Do they still talk about odd or completely absurd topics from time to time?

That last bit should be used in place of the Shulgin scale to determine psychedelic brainshattering. :D

My dad was a pretty big hippie back in the day, and Im honest with him about my psychedelic drug use. I know though that another friend of his gave him some acid for his birthday a few years ago, he let it sit around for a couple years and threw it away. I wish I could get his "glory day" stories out of him.....

I think for alot of people its something that was a part of their youth, not looked at as negative but just something that doesn't fit in with their current life. If that makes any sense? Personally I hope that I can occasionally enjoy mushrooms and DMT until a ripe old age.

i wish i could have gotten to that trash bag...

Ask them and see what they say.

Or if they're now very anti-drug maybe don't ask them?

You know them better than we do.

I'd like for my mom to try vaping or eating herb once but I know that's not going to happen.

My friend and his husband/partner used to be hippies in the late 60s and they took some recently and said how it was a lot weaker compared to the stuff they had in their youth. Of course they had access to strong LSD and even synthetic Psilocybin and mescaline and they'd only take half a blotter/windowpane or a just a single one.

All they do with regularity now is eat herb and they've told me how today's herb is a lot better than the herb they had in the 60s, 70s, and 80s and how the hash they had back then was better than what they've gotten today.
