^ haha that would have been fun. I didn't get to see any of the rock documentaries while they were on at GOMA unfortunately. Just missed out on a screening of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" one lazy sunday when I happened to be passing through. Oh speaking of regurgitator they're playing at the hifi on the 20th of August, reasonably cheap too :)
 
Rockinghorse Records in Brissy is apparently having a massive sale, which is likely to foreshadow their closure. Article about it in today's paper :(

Bit sad but it is just a casualty of technology. I can't remember the last time I bought a solid cd. It is not just the music industry who are slow to adapt. Paying rent and staff to sit around when people are happy to shop online and wait 2-3 days for a purchase to be delivered means most shops will disappear in 10 years.

I remember when rocking horse and skinny's used to have loads of in house appearances of touring acts. Seems they were treading water not prepared to try something different

It's sad, isn't it?

I have seen almost all of my favourite music shops close down over the last 10 years :(

Sometimes (often?) I think our values are totally screwed when folks will baulk at paying $25 for a cd or book, but won't think twice about spending that amount on a crappy bit of merchandise.

I haven't given up yet, though: my kids have been educated in the "crapiness" of itunes and digital files, in general, and so will buy real, physical copies of the music they really like.
 
On vinyl or CD?

I think your values are out of wack if you think burning a CD and sticking it in a plastic case should cost $25. I'm not saying artists shouldn't get paid for their work but a lot of the cost of making an album is taken up by record companies and middle men. How effective do you think their marketing is in this day and age? Today there are plenty of musicians who have become popular solely from self promotion on the internet without the backing of a record company (The Arctic Monkeys is one that springs to mind)
 
So I just installed Google Chrome. I can't import any bookmarks for some reason so it's a useless kunty of a web browser. Thanks Goggle, really helping my anti Steve Jobs ideals.
 
^ Dude, What web browser are you trying to import your bookmarks from? I'm assuming Firefox, if so follow this:

Open Chrome, click on the spanner which is in the top right of the browser. Select options -> Personal Stuff -> Browsing Data and then click "Import Bookmarks from another browser". Chose which bookmarks and click "Import".
 
Do you still have Firefox installed? If you don't that's probably why it isn't working :\

I'm thinking of going back to Mozilla anyway..Chrome can go suck balls.
 
Firefox is still installed, I'm using it right now. I'm drunk but not that drunk :p ;)

I'll try again tomorrow when I care a bit more.
 
Did you sort it out Nickyj? My work is web based which means I use a browser for well over 10 hours a day. Chrome is my browser of choice, unless I'm doing something that requires a specific firefox extension or MS functionality.

No matter how drunk you are, there is no excuse for mouthing off at Google like that.
