off to Singapore in a few weeks, anyone had trouble.

completed unrelated but changi is probably the best airport ive ever visited, proper class

so does washing clothes remove meth residue? I have read that meth takes 4-5 days until it no longer shows up on a urine test. What happens if the baggage handlers use drugs and touch your luggage? Couldnt they pass on residue/scent? Same goes for the taxi driver. I won't be taking the bag/wallet I use regularly, have washed my watches, wiped down my pad computer with alcohol wipes.

Surely I am not the only one to fly internationally after using illicit drugs before flying.

Just a quick one... DONT buy ANYTHING in Singapore unless you KNOW the dealer or source. Be careful, and enjoy your break.

not planning on buying or using anything, far too risky in Singapore and I am worried enough about being stopped at the border because a drug dog sniffs residue. I have washed all my clothes with washing powder and sodium bicarb, have cleaned watches, washed credit cards and am using a new wallet. I am a very light user, only used 3 or 4 times over the last year. Last time I used will be 5 days before flying, I shafted probably 1/3 of a .

if in the worst case scenario we are stopped and searched what is the chance I might fail a drug test? Is this like asking how long is a piece of string?

We are two guys travelling and look clean cut. I am a health professional and do handle illicit and controlled drugs. If i take my ID would that be enough to explain any possible residue? Am i being too paranoid?

Seriously from my honest opinion, If you've come into contact with Illicit drugs even just self use, I would not travel to destinations where drug laws are so tough without taking any precautions, being an Australian myself

I've heard laws in asia are particularly tough especially in China or Singapore I know for a fact, If you are caught using drugs, It is a criminal offence, In China if you are caught using a prohibited

drug, they put you in a cell whether or not you are a Chinese citizen or foreigner, you will be charged and depending if you are caught with any illegal prohibited drugs, you will be put in mandatory rehab centre if caught just

using, but if caught with any amount of illegal drugs you will be charged and could end up years behind bars, caught with the enough amount especially heroine, could lead to much harsher sentences even the death sentence

due to the profound negative effects it had on it's citizens prior to the OPIUM WAR. I would suggest you buy another pair of shoes, wallet anything that you've come in contact with the drugs here. Asian countries especially

SINGAPORE and CHINA have extremely tough laws.

hope this helps. :)

Funny Story, when I was travelling Brisbane to Melbourne, to see a long time child hood best friend, this all happened in DOMESTIC airport, there was sniffer dogs, never would I imagine even though I don't use illegal drugs

apart from my prescription drugs for my ADD, I was swabbed thoroughly searched, I asked why? They said just routine check. But on the way back to Brisbane, They swabbed my hand carry and asked to take my shoes off,

they swabbed that and x rayed it, I was confused due to the fact that I was the only one asked so. So off course out of curiosity I asked the custom officer who was conducting all these searches on me? Why M I being

swabbed and body checked from and to the end of my Holiday, I'm not a drug smuggler.

Customs responded: Checking for gunpowder residue, and not drugs.

Confused me: WTF gunpowder residue? It's not like I killed someone?

Customs: After thoroughly checking and with a Surprised look on his face Oh you are free to go now.

Confused me: OMG what the hell have I ever done to deserve being looked at as a criminal or a suspect of something. I've the biggest compassionate heart, wouldn't even kill an ant. I'd rather kill myself than hurt someone.

Guess at the end of the day, if you've done nothing wrong, even though they've done the necessary searches or might've made you feel like you were singled out and embarrassed you in front of thousands of people.

All that really matters is you have NOTHING to HIDE or have done NOTHING WRONG and you will be let go.

Hope this real life experience helps.

And yeah I've never been searched even in international flights not to mention the extent of search they conducted on me during a domestic interstate flight which completely dazzled me. AH well as long as they're

keeping peace and I'm doing nothing that is against the law. I'M FINE.

Yeah ive had a similar experience although no where near as thorough search as you had. I have had some women come up to me at the domestic airport in QLD asking me to read a card as I have been randomly selected for a bomb swab? I looked at my mum whp was standing next to me and was laughing saying I must look like a terrorist (which I dont but anyway) she swipes something all over my body, the funny thing is she didnt get swabbed neither did anyone else that was walking past. Although I do think that these sort of things are done randomly which is a criteria just to add to the statistics or possibly just staff training or the alike.

Like u mentioned ist really odd that they don't do any searches at the international terminals unless u have been randomly selected although I personally havnt seen anyone go through or search and I havnt been either. Weird.

I'm in the same situation. I'm going to Singapore soon. My other vices should be out of my system by then except for marijuana. I'm obviously not bringing any contraband with me.

Anyone know what might be the chances they will drug test me at the airport? Or ever? I will be there for a few weeks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you have some kind of criminal history, you aren't carrying illegal substances... so I don't see why Singapore would drug test you at their airport? yes they're very strict with their penalties but I've never been drug tested or even swabbed at Singapore and I've been through it a lot

something else strange in Singapore is their residents must pay $100 to gamble at the casino on Sentosa Island, but travellers can enter for free - it's their way of discouraging locals from gambling, but what's $100 to a gambler? lol
