okay, day 1 was fine.. day 2 was horrible and day 3 was the worst.. days 4 - 7 I can tell its been my blood pressure, everything smells weird, like when I detoxed years ago off of methadone and had to get on high blood pressure meds...

I have missed all week at work, casue I have no energy whats so ever, and Im so anxious.. I went from 2 a day for 6 months (on subs for 2 years but before last 6 months was only taking 4mgs) I was on the patient assistance program, paid for the meds for 6 months. only way I could afford to go.. I got a letter in sayin i would be on the program for a year as of the date I was accepted.. well 6 months in my Dr tells me, this is the last time it will pay for it.. I only do 6 months at a time so people have a chance..

WHAT?@!

so boom.. I get my last 2 wks script and take 1 a day instead of 2.. now is day 7 of beign totally off it.. and in a few hours I have an apointment to maybe get the Vivitrol shot.. but everything Im reading about it, it sounds horrible.. heres the thing.. I have no energy, i am anxious, i feel dead.. part of withdrawls still? not sure.. cause I remember.. THIS is how i feel OFF drugs.. after methadone I went 4 years w/out doing anything and ALWAYS felt like crap.. thats why I LOVED SUBS.. made me feel normal and happy

Do I go get this shot? says it will make u tired, dizzy, blah blah.. everything I already am.. and if I miss work again.. im fired.. im reading u can get pneumonia after getting the shot... I am so confused right now.. plz someone tell me the pros and cons of this shot.. PLEASE

IDK but if it is such a hard choice to make then you probably shouldn't force yourself into a small time-frame to come up with the decision. Why can't you take some time to think about this a bit longer?

I have no idea about the side effects or how well it works, hopefully someone with real experience can help you out and chime in, but just realize it is what it is. If you take it you are not going to be able to feel opiates/opioids for however long it lasts. My only advice would be f you do take it make sure you don't do anything risky that might cause a serious injury resulting in the need for pain management, and that would be my biggest concern with receiving the shot if I was in your shoes. But if you really have no intentions to get high it doesn't seem like a bad idea.

I agree.. I also thought of that.. i or anyone else on this medication would be screwed if something like that happend as far as I know..

the reason I have such short time, is cause I have missed a week of work with horrible withdrawls.. i have no points left.. if I miss again.. im prolly fired.. i was hoping the shot would make me feel better.. but from everything Im reading the ONLY good thing is u cant relapse.. thats it from what I see.. and a host of bad things that MAY come from it

well.. just talked to my doc.. and he tells me not to go by what Im reading on the INTERNET about this drug.. even tho what im reading is on the meds website.. he says they have to put all those warnings. blah blah.. and if I take it, within 2 hours ill feel normal? I am struggling with does he just want my money...... cause he did screw me.. and caused all of this.. or will it really help? i really need some advice guys

I never tried vivitrol but the only good thing it does is that you can't get high at all once you get it... I hear that people still have some cravings while on it though so that can be a little annoying. Some people have positives with it. I doubt you'll get pneonomia or whatever.

I take suboxone and have been for a month and I thought this option was much more appealing than vivitrol. I see vivitrol for addicts who have serious addictions in my opinion because that is how you get clean and there is nothing you can do about it to get high. Suboxone is good for me because it acts as an antidepressant for me and gives me energy and lowers my anxiety which is why I want to stick with it. With vivitrol I am unsure how I would feel mentally, and I wouldn't want to have cravings on it.

I have almost no craving on sub. The only crave I get is the next suboxone dose lol

i have no intentions of getting high.. i just wished I would feel decent before I get myself fired.. the doc tells me ill feel normal.. i find it hard to believe him.. i feel like im living a nightmare right now

was me too.. just couldnt afford it anymore.. but ill tell u this.. everyone says the WD's arent bad on subs.. they are full of ISH.. ill admit.. i remember how bad oxy wd's and methadone was... its not that bad... but its still BAD.. today is day 7, i have been to the hospital.. had 2 bags of fluid thru an iv, i have been freezing one sec.. then on fire the next.. I cant sleep.. its horrible.. i might try this shot.. but if it dont help.. im going to be PISSED at my DR

Well suboxone makes me feel normal but if you are unable to get it maybe find a new doc or something? I am kind of confused on your post.

Vivitrol would be your best option if you cannot go the suboxone route in my opinion.

I have no experience with vivitrol though just heard from anecdotal evidence from other people...

EDIT: Aw I am sorry to hear you are unable to get it anymore :/. If I knew you I'd gladly throw you some lol.
Maybe look for more doctors and options? And yes I am fully aware suboxone withdrawals are horrible due to how long they last.
I am unsure though if getting the vivitrol shot will erase the withdrawals..

okay, ill try to eplain better.. i have taken subs for maybe 3 years.. only been getting it from the doc for 6 - 7 months.. before goign to the doc.. I took 1/2 a day.. and was GREAT.. started goign to the doc.. he gave me 2 a day.. like a dummy I took 2 a day.. but.. going into the doc. i told him.. the only way I can afford to come is if I can get on your assistance program.. every doc can have 3 patients.. u pay dr visit, but meds are free.. i got accepted.. got a letter in from the people saying a year from that date i would be on the assistance.. last month the doc tells me... YOUR OFF THE ASSISTANCE.. only 6 months in... he says.. "I ONLY GIVE PATIENTS 6 months on the assistance so everyone gets a chance" but, the STRANGE THING is THAT WEEK my dr visit went from $400 a month, to $250 a month.. cause I been there 6 months.. so in all hoenstly.. he wants to lure someone else in paying $400 and the hell with me.. I get it.. its all about that dollar.. they dont care man.. dont let them tell u they do.. cause they dont.. were addicts to them

now today is day 7 off of subs.. and its been a BAD week.. most of the physical wd's are gone.. but I feel soooo tired and sleepy.. and prolly will for months if nothing changes.. and my anxiety is out the roof.. only thign that helps is weed.. but I cant smoke weed at work..

that thread helped some.. but mostly went to show u can shoot up subs and get high on the vivitrol or whatever.. I dont want to get high, I just wnat to feel better.. im so confused

wow that sounds lame as fuck, what an asshole. And yeah doctors overprescribe suboxone because I'm sure they have no idea about it. I am only one month in my suboxone treatment and my doctor is throwing insane doses at me... I am on it for off-label depression though. I was clean before I got onto suboxone.

When you got off subs did you taper well though? I would look into finding a better doctor. I'm sure you can find one and explain your situation.

If not I guess the vivitrol may be your best bet :/

My advice is to not get the shot at this point in time. You are supposed to wait more like 10-14 days after taking opioids before taking vivitrol (7 days is alright for people on short acting opiates but suboxone stays in you too long and I know of people getting sick when they got the shot 7 days after stopping subs) so it might be too soon for you to take it. If you take it too soon you will go into precipitated withdrawals. I took a naltrexone pill (the daily pill version of vivitrol) 5 days after taking just 2 mg of suboxone for a few days and it put me into PWDs. My legs felt like they were on fire, I started vomiting, was very agitated, my muscles were tightening up so much, I didn't eat a thing, and I couldn't sleep for 3 days so just laid in bed with my legs kicking. And that was after I went through the very minor weds I experienced from just a few days of low dose suboxone, so it sucked to go through it again but 50x worse.

Perhaps you can ask for a prescription for the naltrexone pills this way you can wait another 5 days or so before starting it, and if you don't like it you can stop taking it.

I can tell you this; it does not help with any lingering withdrawal symptoms, only cravings. If you feel tired, achy, restless, etc, you will still feel that way after getting the shot. Like I said it does help with cravings, but that's it. I think my body just knew that the naltrexone would block anything I took so I didn't even entertain the idea of trying anything.

I think that you should try loperamide. It's the generic name for Imodium and it helps with the withdrawals. I bet that 16-20mg will have you feeling a lot better so you can go to work. It helps because it's technically an opioid but can't get you high. Some people actually use it like subs if they don't have access to suboxone.

this lopermide or whatever.. is it over the counter? or prescribed?

this lopermide or whatever.. is it over the counter? or prescribed?

nope, it's OTC you don't need a prescription. Just go to walgreens or something, there is a big megathread it. It is mainly used for fixing diarrhea issues but it definitely helps w/d

if they dont have the lopermide, will imodium work. or does it have to be that brand?

It's the same thing. The loperamide is usually the store brand version of it, like it will say "compare to active ingredients in Imodium" on the box so you know it's the same thing for less money.
