So I was on 60 mg of Prozac daily, dropped to 40 mg for a week, then to 20 mg for a week, and today is the first day w/o it. I've taken my tramadol a few times since being on the Prozac, and have noticed it doesn't do much for me like it did, I was sure it wasn't tolerance, so I did research and it wasn't. It was because Prozac (fluoxetine) uses enzyme CYP2D6, and clears 50 % to 80 % of it! This is what tramadol uses to metabolize into o-desmethyltramadol (the good stuff). So I knew fluoxetine and norfluoxetine (its metabolite) had a long half life, but I was reading it is ridiculously longer than I thought. Like I said today is my first day w/o a dose of fluoxetine, how long must I wait until my liver can handle the tramadol and metabolize it properly?

2 to 3 weeks is a good "washout" period for long half life drugs like Prozac.
I agree with sekio.... I have found 2 weeks is always a good ammount of time for SSRI's to leave my system. I used to have to stop taking my zoloft or prozac for 2 weeks before using some seratonin inhibiting recreational drugs like molly or else i would have no feelings what so ever
It has been 4 1/2 days since I last took a dose of Prozac, I know I should wait longer for better effects (more production of o-desmethyltramadol), but don't want to. I really want an opioid fix. Should I continue waiting or just see if I can feel it yet?

You were fine taking the medications together for awhile, right? If so, then go as sloooowly as you need to - it's so not worth another depressive episode just bc of stupid medications.
I found that Tramadol helps tremendously as an antidepressant for me. I have a huge backlog in supply, so when I run out of other pain medication, Tramadol helps.
You were also at risk for developing Serotonin Syndrome, a serious condition that can form when a patient takes two medications or more that stimulate Serotonin reuptake or flooding. It's likely you're just not "feeling" that extra Serotonin dose you got with the Prozac.
I'm glad you posted here, because everyone I tell my Tramadol=awesome antidepressant theory looks at me like I've grown a second nose.
