As some of you might have noticed, we have done away with the social. In hindsight, it is something that should have been done a while ago.
Why is it gone?
A couple reasons, with the main one being that it just didn't work out towards making Other Drugs a better forum.
To get a little more detailed:
It became a drain on our moderators; at one point we even assigned specific mods to cover it, as the others wanted nothing to do it with it. Admittedly, that should have tipped us off that it had to go. Our moderators' time is better spent working towards our forum's goal; harm reduction.
Things got out of hand; racist, harassing, rude, and just generally offensive posts were being made.
It was redundant; the Lounge, DC, and the regional forums, among others, all cover discussion that took place in the Social Thread. And they do it better than we ever did.
So, get off my lawn, it's not coming back, and take it to the proper forum.
