occasional IV?

from experience its one of those things where your all in or your not doing it. i was just wondering if there are any occasional IV users out there who manage to keep a somewhat successful life/career/school..because i certainly couldnt manage to do it.

cause my boyfriend and i were discussing this where he thinks it could be possible, but i do not because weve already been there and i would think it would bring us back to the same spot if not a worse situation we were in before. so if someone could disprove me, id love to hear your story.
 
It's definitely not something that everyone can do, but some people can control their use even when using their DOC via IV. I'd say that I also would not have the willpower and self control to only use occasionally, but it's definitely possible for some people.
 
The needle is off-putting to a select few. Some people try it a few times and it causes them serious anxiety so they revert back to sniffing.

The rest of us are indifferent. It's simply the most efficient ROA. Makes no sense to "go back" and waste diesel, even if you're a chipper.
 
I am a sniffer, but if I only have a little left I sometimes IV it.

The main reason that I don't IV is basically what Menschfeind said.... anxiety.

I get panic attacks thinking that I might OD when I IV sometimes, so that ruins the fun.

I IV maybe twice a month when I am using about 3-4 days a week.
 
yeah. i mean i was an IVer, but then i got clean. so i have no anxiety about that aspect. i plan on going back to drugs but sniffing or smoking, and i was wondering how likely you think it would be to be able to shoot up occasionally..without going all the way in again. and wanted to know if other people could manage it?

but yeah i understand the anxiety thing. it is stressful, especially if you dont have anyone show you how to do it. you can OD easier, but you "generally" know what youve got. plus i always had my bf test it out first >.< haha but he usually wanted to any way. ya know..
 
I only IV occasionally at the moment, although it used to be an everyday event. What makes it possible is not keeping drugs around that are shot-worthy. If a bag of something spectacular falls in my lap, it's on. Otherwise it's weed and wine- a perfectly fine time.

I'd be super sad if I stopped forever, for the rest of my life. It's just an impractical approach. However, it's very difficult to have a decent life (apartment, job, food, friends) if you use IV drugs regularly or often. It took a great deal of work and discipline to get to the point (ha) where it could be a treat, like after years of not being physically addicted to anything.
 
I could never go back to using drugs in any other way than IV. Anything I see now, I have to IV it. The only time I don't, is when I'm at a party and someone offers me a line of coke and I can't be like uhhh, lemme take this on over to the bathroom please.

Besides that, I could never go back to using any IVable drug in another manner. I love the needle far too much. I have to say I get a rush to see the blood flush back into the barrel and that's just as much of an addiction for me as the heroin is.

If I can put it in a needle, it's going in my vein.

yeah i loved that too, i also shot what ever i could from MDA to benzos to caffeine(there was no speed and i needed something. it was shitty as fuck)..like so stupid but i had a needle addiction i think >.<

i love it, i just know where it will lead me..

I've IV'd a large number of times, but it's really not my preferred ROA: the hassle of dealing with needles, etc. is more of a pain than is oft-times worth it I've found.

Although I do see my thoughts drift sometimes...
 
I hate leaving my house ever since using the needle this past year. I don't want people to know I am a dirty speedfreak and see my trackmarks. I'd never be able to hold down a job, even though I have a degree and experience. I'm afraid to even go outside to smoke a cigarette when on speed. I would probably end up stealing from my workplace or shooting up in the bathroom, I admit it. I know several users who have no trouble being in public, but no way could they function in a work or school setting. A member of my immediate family had to quit their job because it was too much to be at work and not at home and high. (She lives with me now).

Also, needle fixation drives me nuts. Sometimes I have to shoot water just to go through the motions. I guess I'm not the only one to slam stupid things like caffeine and plain benadryl when desperate. Myself and my druggie family just kinda scrape by on the edge of society.

:\ im sorry dude. i never got that bad, but i did fuck up my life royally. i had a good conversation with my guy and i think we have come to a decision that IV coke = bad and unmanageable, but IV = dope is maybe ok.

but we hopefully wont get to that point. since you can smoke tar.

You have to be careful with things like that. I can't imagine shooting caffeine is the best idea and I hope you realize that almost all benzos are NOT water soluble and therefor, cannot be used via IV. There are a small number of water soluble benzos though.

Well, I guess it depends on who was around. Most of the time I go to a "party", it will be with people who either are not aware that I use heroin, much less use the needle or think that I've cleaned myself up and would not want me doing such things around them. Either way, IVing at these events is usually not possible unless I have my own car to go hide in and nobody would notice me scraping some powder into a cap and then slinking away.

I hate to shoot in front of people unless they are well known to me and addicts as well. IV is so personal, and sometimes it looks bad or bloody. I don't like anyone commenting on how it looks or judging me or disrupting my shot.
 
^^ yeah i agree. but all my friends do it, so its usually not weird just to excuse yourself to the bathroom and be in there for a while - if its a "party setting" or if there are a few people who dont do it but know you do. if its just my friends who do then i used to have no problem doing it in front of them.

and yeah i know its not good. we did use a makeshift micron filter for it, which really did work pretty well. but i only did the caffeine once just cause i was fiending so bad, and the benzos was just cause we felt like shooting something. we knew it didnt work. only did it like twice too. so yeah we did some dumb things but we were generally pretty smart about it.
 
I'm definitely responsible with it. I typically only do it a few times here and there.

I always use buprenorphine IV and I do it frequently but it is not a problem for me. :)

IV MDA is by far my favorite drug/psychedelic experience of all time. I wrote a trip report about it here.

Hey I know why you feel the way you do but take it from me, police and doctors and nurses have seen my arms and no one has made me as an IV user!

If you know what to look for you can notice it, but if you're IVing yourself, you aren't going to put yourself out there like that.
 
I've Iv'ed 5 times over 8 years. Its something I will try only once in a great while and feel no need to do with any regularity. I only do it once with any given substance (for novelty's sake) and doubt I will do it again.
 
ocassional IVer at the moment.

every 10 day opiate script i'll have a shot, so generally not more than 3 a month. it does fluxuate from time to time. i'll use them nasally as well.

all other drugs i use are used orally or vaped/combusted.

i don't miss work because of my drug use and do well at my job. if anything work abstains me from using more. on the other hand i've been fully addicted with a less than ideal lifestyle.
 
I think that it sounds like you may be confusing correlation with causation here...It's not like you can take a junkie and take away all their needles so that they can't IV/have to use a dif. ROA and all of a sudden they're going to get their life back and be doing so much better (if only it was that easy), and chances are you aren't going to be able to take a responsible, non-addicted drug user and give them a needle and all of a sudden they're going to become a homeless bum sucking dick for money. I'm not sure how IVing has anything to do with not being able to maintain a normal life.

It just so happens that IV is the most efficient method while at the same time requiring a degree of self harm and patience/equipment collection, so as we all know it's the preferred method of those who are addicted and wouldn't have it together no matter what ROA they used. They don't have trouble living a normal life because they use needs, they have trouble living a normal life because they're addicted to drugs, and that's not going to change based upon how you take said drug
