Opioids OC Withdrawal Symptoms...

I was just curious on a few things concerning withdrawals from opioids/opiates, more on the psychological aspects. I know people suffer depression, but I was wondering how much more intense can the mental part of the withdrawal be if the person going through withdrawal already has mental disorders, like being bi-polar. Can they suffer from such things as severe depression and severe paranoia? Do people without disorders going through withdrawal ever experience extreme paranoia and depression at the same time, or maybe does the paranoia come from the depression?

People who are going through opiate withdawals can experience a vast amount of negative psychological side effects, for example....every one of the symptoms you listed above fits in that category. Depression(severe or mild), paranoia, bi-polar emotions, suicidal thoughts, etc....all of these can occur while someone is going through withdrawals, especially when they are in severe withdrawal. Basically, intense opiate withdrawal, can be like going through the worst kind of hell imagineable, and then some...

Allthough, it can be be much more tolerable when the person has strong willpower and maybe some benzo's(thats only in my opinion)

Yes, yes, paranoia, psychosis, mental rape by voices. The kind that makes you scream for your mumma.

I never used to experience much withdrawal in comparison to people.

So I naturally did alot of opiates (codeine, morphine) Then after months or years of never experiencing them.

One day.

I'd have my opiates and they would send me into paranoia, within about 5 hours of ingestion, and I was unable to sleep, and opiates are a narcotic (make you sleep usually). This kept happening.

This has scared me straight.

i`m pretty sure that opi-withdrawls can cause mental problems , and i think the more often you go through them the more your brain gets "destroyed". for me the withdrawls from opis were mainly physically......lets say they were so physical that i couldnt even focus or think about any problems or notice whats goin on in my head...... benzos are more mentally and less physically....and are more likely to give you serious loong-lasting mental issues......-my opinion-

Luckily, the severe psychological effects are fairly short lived. Usually disappearing after about 5-7 days. Although, there typically is a set of much milder effects for a few months afterward. The acute effects can certainly be debilitating, while the long term mild effects are more of an annoyance. IME.

I'd imagine that if you struggle with those even without withdrawal, they would make the ones from opiate withdrawal that much worse.
