obscure obsessions

I am obsessed with Pilot techpens. Specifically, Pilot G-Tec C3 techpens in ONLY 3.0 or 4.0 nibs.

are those gels or regular ink? i'm always drawn to Sharpies- the regulars and the thin. i've bought the mega packs of both, but even when i dedicate a specific little backpack for them, they go missing or run away slowly but surely.

I have an insane love for metal lunchboxes. i've already picked out my next one, but imma wait til my birthday to buy it.

I am really picky about my pens, because I'm left handed. Too inky and my hand gets covered in ink and that will transfer to my face. Gel pens don't write well for long IME. The pens that you turn to get the ball point visible, well when a lefty uses them, they roll right back up again.
Right now I'm using a zebra ball point and it is great.

I collect letters. Pretty much every single snail mail letter i've received I keep. I was a camp counselor in Maine for 5 summers, and mail call was the highlight of the day. Same when I was in the dorm in university.

oh man, don't even get me started on pens!!! there are a few that i've been fond of over the years, but none to the extent of the pilot precise V5 rollerball. i've been using these pens since longer than i can remember. i used to steal them from my dad's desk. he'd always say "my damn pens ALWAYS come up missing" it was me. i got addicted to them, the weight, the way they write, the way they look. eventually my style of art became more abstract and the pens themselves played a big part in the way i developed artistically. even if i had no ideas spewing from my brain if i put one of those pens to paper and blindly drew lines... eventually i'd make something of it. hence the pens have bailed me out of many a dull moment. if they ever stopped manufacturing those pens, i would find as many as i could and stock up in hopes they'd last me until the end of my life. :)

here's the beauty...

there have been many more in the past, but i don't have them all uploaded. this gives you a good idea of what i've done with them though. they're the best pens for outlining and for the drip/splatter effect! :)

I thrive on the absence of clutter. I like organization and order.

How can I be more like this?!!!?!! It is my goal in life to be one of those people that always has their house/car/life clean and organized. It's soooo hard for me :\

I also obsess about birds, and I simply have to point birds out to whatever company I happen to have.
Another reason I want to meet you =) Come visit me! I have a gazillion kinds of birds outside my house. I love listening to them and watching them fly around and interact with each other. I actually have this alarm clock that has a sound labeled "Rainforest" that is some kind of bird that sings outside my house. I only know this because I thought I was going crazy when I hit "snooze", still heard the noise, hit "off", still heard the noise, UNPLUGGED the damn alarm clock, STILL heard the noise--finally realized its the same bird right outside my window LOL I'm dying to find out what kind of bird it is, idk what it looks like as there are so many different kinds around me.

My obsession sounds kinda gross now that I think about it lol I am constantly picking lint out of my husbands belly button and my daughter's toes. Like everytime he walks past me with his shirt off I grab him to see if there's any new lint to pick out lol idk why!!

I collect bottles - mainly empty energy drink and vodka bottles - and neatly display them on my bookshelf. :)

I might have to make multiple posts as I can only think of one and I know I have a lot.

Handwriting. When taking notes, writing a letter, etc., the pen has to be the same color the entire time (even if it's notes from class over 3 days), and the handwriting has to be the same. No all caps and then regular writing. No cursive and then regular writing. It has to be the same. The letters have to look the way I want them to look, or else I write the whole thing over. Like if I have a to do list with 20 things to do and I don't like the way the letter a looks on the 20th thing to do, I'll write the entire list over. There is no erasing, because the imprint from writing is still there.

thats OCD, man

I collect bottles too hun!! But because of our 3 kitties and lorikeet, I can't have them displayed because they would be smashed in about 5 minutes. So most of them are all packed neatly in a plastic tub under the house. I've been collecting them for YEARS, mainly interestingly-shaped wine bottles, but it branched out to any interesting bottle or jar. Here are the few bottles I have displayed in our house (out of kitty reach ;)):

I have 5 cats. All of them strictly indoor pets. A couple of them have the habit of rubbing their face on mine in affection. I love the smell of their fur!!

^^^ pssshhhhhh 13 cats??? weaaaaaaaak! :D

i have something like 30+ they started as barn cats, now they're a barn family. :) they get fed and everything. they come in all shapes and sizes. sometimes at night they travel in packs, not even a laser pointer will divert them.

i'll see about getting some pictures. :)

My grandma has collected bottles for as long as I've been alive, probably longer. She has beautiful colours and such a variety of shapes. She always said she would leave them to me once she passes. :)

I'm another pen freak. My favourite is the plain old Steadler stick - nothing writes smoother for me!

I used to get the stationary girl at my old work to order them specially for me. ;)

..the clicking sound of engines when they're turned off but still warm...
Ooh, I adore this sound too. It's so reassuring somehow. Very calming.

Also, I'm a big petrol fan. I love leaving the windows down at the petrol station and breathing deeply. Aaaah. :D

I forgot to mention my obsession with straightness. Everything near me has to be straight and aligned, preferably with equal distance between things. I am constantly arranging things all throughout the day, and don't feel right until everything is set nice and straight.

^This is my mantra.

^^ My Dad does that!! It's hilarious. At the dinner table he's always subconciously moving things around so they're all in line :D

It drives Busty nuts, but he's accepted it as one of my quirks. ;) I can control myself when needed, but if I'm tired or grumpy, everything has to be straight otherwise I can't let myself relax! 8o
