obscure obsessions

To me, it's a really 'dull' click. Like there are no sharp edges coming up against each other, and it's a soft thud, almost. You can feel it in your hands when you click a remote closed. :)

boxes. wood, glass, seashell, plastic, metal, very small to large like cedar chest size, i've got 100s, prob more than i think. i've been collecting them since i can remember although i never thought of it as "a collection" until a friend asked about them. my fav one i got when i was 14, 15y.o. it's tiny, a cubic inch, black plastic with a silver holographic lightning bolt on the top. used to keep acid in it, lotta good memories associated w/ that little box.

yessum and like a lack of friction exists. it has a subtle click just before it's fastened, yet a slight rub so that you know it's on track. :)

I am obsessed with Patrick Suskind's Das Parfum. I could read it over and over again, and never get even the least bit sick of it. :D

Hmm I have different obessions at different times.

Underwear is one, I must have enough now to be able to wear a different pair every day for 6 months. Recently had a clear out and I threw a sack full out with tags on them.

but then I also go through stages of stocking up on things, latest one was contact lenses (lets hope my prescription doesn't change in the next 5 years), but previously its been suits, or shirts. I seem to decide I want something, then when I find something I like and am happy with I buy a ton of the things, I have 4 suits and 8 trousers exactly the same as I like the fit and they look good.

I also obsess about birds, and I simply have to point birds out to whatever company I happen to have.

I do this.

I keep movie, concert & festival ticket stubs and wrist bands, birthday cards, and other random personal memorobilia in a shoebox.

I have a few tags from t-shirts that I bought hanging on my walls. Because I liked the designs on them. Sometimes I wish the design from those tags were on the shirts.

^ wicked brah, i have a bunch of cool adidas tags saved because of their design. :D

also, i have a thing about socks. no matter how long i wear them for be it 2 minutes or all day, once i take them off, i won't put them back on until they're clean. my socks always have to be clean and have that fresh and clean thick feeling. sometimes i'll wear 2 or 3 pairs of socks in a day.

also, on my car stereo, i won't leave the volume on the number 19. i used to only let the volume be an even number, then i added multiples of 5. then i decided 23 was ok, 17 was ok, slowly but surely every number slipped in, but 19 never did. it's now the only number i WON'T let the volume rest on. i almost panic when it's on 19 because i feel like something bad is gonna happen if i leave it there.

Haha I do this too. In fact I was recently alerted to the existance of a facebook group called something to the effect of "I must have the stereo/TV volume on an even number or a multiple of 5"
....so there are thousands of us who are all the same!!
This is comforting to me :)

ryan, I'm not yet up to the stage where I can have it on anything other than an even number or multiple of 5...perhaps some day I can advance myself like you =D

Sometimes my boyfriend fucks around with it and changes the volume to 11 or13 or 19 or 21 etc, just to see how long I can stand it before I have to change it back to an even number. Bastard!! :D

^same here I have a thing for the #3 and multiples of 3. Last year I used to knot my shoe laces three times but than I said this is too much and now I just do it once. I am going to go take three tokes of MJ and light the fireplace but not before I have myself a sniff of bupe.

Peace,
Seedless

also, the "soft buttons" response reminded me of another thing for me. with remotes, tv remotes, stereo remotes, cameras, or whatever, the battery covers... i have this thing where i'm constantly opening and closing them until they click softly and comfortably. it's hard to explain exactly how i like it to feel, but i want it to be more of a soft click than a new click. if that makes sense.

i do that all the time! i hold the remote while i watch tv/movies and do that, people get so pissed

If I see products with frosted packaging I HAVE to touch it. I love frosted packaging / bottles.

I cant help but constantly sniff the air at the petrol station. I love the smell of petrol fumes.

Ice cracking in water, the clicking sound of engines when they're turned off but still warm...

Anything that has been made by hand...intricate needlework, things without tags

crystal, glass, anything clear without color...and also wood

obscure television shows, and obscure characters within the obscure television shows

i'm quite a fan of the smell when i'm driving my car behind a semi-truck while driving on a specific entry ramp of the highway on the way home from work. i RARELY smell it anywhere else (but i do occasionally), so i don't know if it's because of the pitch of the turn and/or the curve of the ramp, but somehow it always smells like burning rubber, but not just regular burning rubber, it has a very specific smell.

I might have to make multiple posts as I can only think of one and I know I have a lot.

Handwriting. When taking notes, writing a letter, etc., the pen has to be the same color the entire time (even if it's notes from class over 3 days), and the handwriting has to be the same. No all caps and then regular writing. No cursive and then regular writing. It has to be the same. The letters have to look the way I want them to look, or else I write the whole thing over. Like if I have a to do list with 20 things to do and I don't like the way the letter a looks on the 20th thing to do, I'll write the entire list over. There is no erasing, because the imprint from writing is still there.

i do this. its annoying and i waste so much paper because of it. but i can't help it. has to perfect.

Oh that's a good one!! The old ute I learned to drive in made the best post-operational clinking sound :)

I only ever write with black pen. I have a severe aversion to blue pens.

I am obsessed with Pilot techpens. Specifically, Pilot G-Tec C3 techpens in ONLY 3.0 or 4.0 nibs.
I have several pens in all colors at home, in my office, my bag, etcetera. I cannot write well with any other kind of pen :D I have them in the loveliest colors too.... rose, peuce, lavander, turquoise, etc. I mostly use the black, blue and red ones though. Since I can ONLY get black and blue over here, I always go on a Pilot shopping spree when I am abroad :)
