US President Barack Obama has made no changes to the annual US list of major illicit drug producers and transit countries.

The US president is required to make the designation to Congress annually. They were released by the State Department late on Tuesday.

The 20 countries designated are: Afghanistan, the Bahamas, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Laos, Mexico, Burma, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela.

Of these, Bolivia, Burma and Venezuela were found to have "failed demonstrably" to meet commitments to combat production and trafficking of drugs.

That designation can result in US aid cuts, but Obama spared both Bolivia and Venezuela, citing a national interest waiver.

If Venezuela is rich enough to pay for poor americans heating oil(google it)why in the name of all that is holy are we sending them aid yearly? And to a country with a leader that denounces the US at every turn?

I'm glad the US has such a surplus of national funds.

That designation can result in US aid cuts...

The US can always return the excess money to the taxpayers. Ha - that will never happen. America ought to stop meddling in the affairs of other countries. Imperialism is too expensive.

they had extra heating oil, and showed a great humanitarian gesture of "we're all humans in the same ride" in attempting to help our poor

their leader denounces us with witty and TRUE remarks. they don't just bash us like we bash them (because they won't support our drug policies), they point out actual problems in our government and our drug war that desperately need to be addressed. and they're usually spot on

and they do need aid, even if they had a surplus of oil one year

Agreed.
And yeah, man, Canada is a major importer, and they didn't make the list? Really? Just because they aren't a 3rd world country and they have a lower crime rate then we do doesn't mean they don't export drugs to the US. Inevitable with such a long border between the two countries.

a little fishy that were blacklisting a lot of countries in the middle east with OIL and drugs being the minor war were fighting. Then we got most of south america close to the U.S. which has some more oil and doesnt really blow up our buildings and shit. Pretty ironic
