During his run for the presidency, Barack Obama instilled hope in medical marijuana supporters by pledging to respect state laws on the matter. And for the first two years of his term, he was generally faithful to his promise. Yet suddenly, and with no logical explanation, over the past eight months he has become arguably the worst president in U.S. history regarding medical marijuana.

Good the huffington post picked up the story. Hopefully this will draw more attention to how two faced Obama to the general public

This is an excellent article by the way (the full article). Very informative. I got a little depressed reading it. Especially this part:

From 1969 to 1992, it was relatively easy for state governments and private institutions to investigate marijuana's therapeutic uses: The mechanism was to get FDA approval for a research protocol, then obtain DEA permission to store and handle the marijuana, and then NIDA would provide the marijuana. After Clinton took office, his team created a new hurdle, requiring a separate HHS review of the scientific merit of an FDA-approved research protocol, which has essentially prevented all but a few research projects from moving forward over the last 18 years. Indeed, just last month, Obama's HHS rejected an FDA-approved protocol that would have researched whether marijuana can reduce PTSD among combat veterans.

It seems Clinton was harder on marijuana than all the other presidents.

Maybe it's less a question of him doing a 180 once he became president, and more an issue of the inability to work change in an inherently corrupt and broken system?

look at the chart. it shows that it got increasingly worse when he became president then it ever has been. and if he really wants to change but he is unable to then he needs to grow a pair and act like the president. this is why i dont understand why everyone says that if we elect a republican in they will be even worse on weed. the democrats have been the toughest on weed!

I honestly think Ron Paul would be the ONLY republican presidential canidate that would do good things for legalizing weed. The rest of them think marijuana and heroin both effect you the same and that all drugs are addictive in the same ways.. Republicans and Dems both are the same.. fuck em all, INDEPENDENT bitches

^^
That looks like the only that it would actually make sense voting for. The reps and the dems are all just power hungry greedy liars

I am showing up to vote for a non-republicrat this coming voting cycle, cause I'm not going to sit back on my ass while the old racist republican people take control of my freedom. (sorry old people) I showed up last voting cycle to be deceived, of the 500 other people there, I am 21 now, and I was the only one who looked to be under the age of 30. your vote don't count, but don't be a pussy, show up and vote like a man. Voting will give more progress than protesting will.

This. My only disagreement there is the only person in the race that has a chance at election that would change a lot of things for the better would be Ron Paul. Check out his new $1 trillion-in-government-cuts plan. He's the only one with the balls to say the DEA, FEMA, FDA, DOI, et al are useless institutions that only inhibit our prosperity. And independant will never get elected. Ever. They get no more than what? 6% of votes on election day?
