I know loperamide has been discussed over and over but I may have some new info. (Quick background on me, basic chemical knowledge, 21 y.o addicted to 300-400 mg of oral morphine daily for 5 years, quit IV use about a year ago. My withdrawals are hellish, placebo opiates won't work because i'll be in full blown WD's if its not real. Ill explain why I mentioned that in a sec.) I know synth can't be discussed here but you can find out how to acetylate loperamide pretty easily. I did it, I had around 500mg of somewhat pure o-acetyl loperamide (I'm gonna call it OAL so I don't have to type that out). Now I've read on here and plenty on other sites that OAL may be a somewhat potent opiate. I ingested a few mg's to make sure it wouldn't kill me and about 2 hours later injected about 50 mg of it. (Let me stop at this point and make myself clear, I was not doing this to try to get high. I'm trying to find a miracle drug that stops withdrawal.) There was NO rush and NO euphoria, however about 10 minutes later my physical withdrawal vanished, it didn't help too much for the mental aspect but my aches and pains, vomiting, general discontent, and just shit feelings, were GONE FOR OVER 24 HOURS. I've been off of opiates for 15 days now I used the OAL at a 75ish mg dose orally daily for 10 days and then cut back to 25mg for 2 days. I had very little withdrawal during the 10 day period, almost negligible except for being worn out and depressed. I have been off of OAL for 2 days now and other than mild intestinal disturbances I'm feeling fine. I gave a 50mg capsule to my lab mouse friend (he's a person, not a mouse) and he had pupil constriction, said he felt slightly opiated sans the euphoria, and he kept itching his neck, nuts, and nose as well. I think I may be on to something here. Please let me know if you have any knowledge on this, its hard to find good info.

I have found that high dose Loperamide does help with withdrawal.. but having IBS-D it isn't the best thing for me. I am not sure what you mean by pure o-acetyl.. but I find the topic very interesting as I am about to be in withdrawals again if I don't find a way around it.

Is the pure part something I can do to the OTC pills to extract the Lope itself??

Loperamide has central effects naturally in high doses producing analgesia, pupil constriction, shallowed breathing and stopping withdrawal. Those who say it doesn't are lying to you or won't accept that an anti-diarrheal would do so.

The additional bad news is that your just prolonging your withdrawal for a potentially worst withdrawal, and some possible gastrointestinal side-effects as it has different anti-diarrheal mechanisms than other opioids.

I have never used it to completely come off of opiates as every month when I go back to my doctor I get more.. but I have used it when I ran low and needed something to tide me over for a couple days until I get more.

The one thing that I would think it would be useful for is the fact that there is no euphoria involved.. therefore it would be easier to taper off than most opiates. The biggest problem with me with opiates is that I am always chasing that high.. wanting to feel that rush again.. That is what makes it hard for me to taper with something like Dilaudid or Opana.

id strongly urge not to acetylate loperamide. who knows what that is going to do to you. OH seems pretty hindered anyway youd likely need AA or AcCl. these threads are dumb.

acetyl-loperamide will still be removed from the brain by P-glycoprotien. acetylation hence poses no benefits at all

ya and there is probably a damn good reason why its removed from our brains. i dont understand why everyone tries to pump dirty bulky chems in their head against their bodies own mechanisms.

i are spectre--
What is the reason? There seems to be little research done about OAL and I'm in a kind of new territory. Even the best drugs were somebody's personal project at some point. If you haven't tried it, don't knock it! I'm not chasing a cheep high with Imodium, I'm trying to use it as a tool to get clean and move on with my life.

sekio--
Yes most of it broken down but some will pass through, I'm not sure if acetylation helps it pass the BBB or it if makes the drug itself stronger.

Chromophobia--
Even after stopping the OAL (this is day 4) I'm having pretty minor withdrawals, On day 1 after stopping OAL I had some withdrawals, similar to an alcohol hangover, Minor aches and pains, Bowel disturbances, slight tiredness, but it was tolerable and I was able to go to work and function fine with a little coffee. Now, quite a bit of my energy has come back and most of my aches and pains are gone.

I've used it a few times when in the grips of a nasty WD, it can definitely ease the discomfort a bit. But I never use it for more than a day or 2 at the very worst peak part of a WD. Opiates always give me some level of constipation and when I'm in WD land I don't want to add to that constipation with something that is probably just prolonging the pain.

That's one thing I hate is the people who say that loperamide doesn't have an effect. I know your not going to get that rush or high but, I know when I used it my withdrawls went away, and after being clean for a month and taking it again my pupils were very constricted, my breathing slowed, I was itchy as fuck, and I lasted forever in bed and then slept for 7 hours straight, which I usually have insomnia so even 3 or 4 would be great for me. But next time someone takes it and complains it doesnt do anything I would say check for those signs that there is central agonist action going on.
