I'm trying to find out what party involved in my controlled substance administration is responsible for entering the information into the ISTOP/PMP in NY. This site is the newly devised way to control multiple prescriptions being given to one person by different healthcare providers. I filled a script for my pain medication at the end of November and a week later I got a call from another pharmacy telling me my script has been ready for a week-we picked it up but I'm wondering how I was able to do that with the control this mandatory website has on the timeframe allowed to obtain more medication. Obviously my doctor electronically sent the script to different pharmacies. So who puts that info in there? The doctor or the pharmacist? And will someone figure it out eventually?

Usually the pharmacy. Some states require daily reporting, some weekly. Perhaps the doctor transmitted the first script a couple of weeks before you filled it and the insurance timeframe was up?

Both Misread the question. The pharmacist puts in that you have filled the Rx, the prescriber is obligated to check before prescribing. Some don't IME.

And yes, it will eventually get found out barring some error somewhere.

You will find all you need to know here.

Thank you all. I have been on that website but couldn't find what I was looking for. I appreciate your time in helping to answer my question.
