NYC-funded guide for heroin users draws DEA's ire

^they r not ignorant, just have an agenda that is different from us. They r not into saving lives and have their own reasons for acting this way. They know what they are doing that's why I have to say they are far from ignorant, they just act and seem like it.

wtf? did you graft a tin-foil cap to your skull?

The DEA is perhaps misunderstood, heroin is a big problem in the city, but I don't believe that he has any clandestine agenda to subvert (?) the junkie class. Maybe I've spiked too much diesel in my lifetime, but as devil's advocate, I would gander that the DEA probably ascribes to the view that such meticulous pamplets advocate its use and minimize its dangers; even working class people can be stupid, and could talk themselves into a short road to misery and death.

personally, i don't really have an opinion. I just assume that it's common knowledge if you do dope, how to do it properly; and the internet can provide a wealth of info. But there are people without the same resources that we take for granted. So, it's up to people that know the socio-narcotic issues in new york.

Alas, just because he disagrees with your general argument and wears a suit, doesn't mean he wants to exterminate minorities or something...

furthermore, he's not like that retard's youtube video which alleges that NYC is forking YOUR (federal?) tax-dollars on Pamplets, when they could be spending the same money on health care, or something completely not even remotely on par. in essence, your opposite number:

On a related note: If you have used needles, please don't throw them in the trash- dispose properly. Exchange, hospital, safe disposal area (I 've seen them at a rest stop)
If you absolutely must, break the tips off and stash them in a sealed bottle for recyclying. I sometimes work on the back of a trash truck, and have almost been stuck a few times. Caps come off easily.

They discussed the pamphlet on the Fox News Channel recently and I guess you don't have to guess what stance they had on this. I see absolutely no harm or foul in having a booklet to teach people the safest way to inject drugs and dispose needles properly. And this booklet is NOT going to make people go out and try heroin for the first time just because they read a pamphlet on how to do it. But I guess fellow conservatives and the DEA look at it as propaganda that supports IV drug use. This is seriously flawed logic.

Many people on this board are obviously anti-DEA but as Zyggy pointed out, there are two opposing views on drugs and safety. Some folks believe in education and harm reduction to save lives, while others prefer to use law enforcement tactics in order to save people from themselves.

Their problem is they don't understand what harm reduction means, as evidenced by the quote that the pamphlet gives the impression that injecting heroin can be safe.
All harm reduction is about is reducing the risk, not making something safe- hence the term" harm REDUCTION". Not harm elimination.

To be against drug harm reduction means you don't want people who engage in drug use to have a better chance of survival. That by doing drugs they deserve the worst possible fate, not the least possible. That's why there's no safe injection sites in the US. They WANT the drug users dead.

I can't get over how bad an idea it is to carry works unnecessarily. What's the consequence in NYC if you get caught carrying used syringes? My ex tried the hospital excuse on a cop in Morristown, NJ and ended up getting her daughter taken away.

What NYC is doing is def a step in the right direction. If people want to shoot drugs, they're going to do it whether or not it's legal. At least they're doing something to reduce the spread of disease; disease that can be transmitted to non-drug users as well. Those against such a progressive decision really piss me off. All ignorant people piss me off actually!
