NY, NYC - 07.29.04 - PAYBACK an old skool jam @ Avalon

old skool my ass. I didn't recognize any of the tracks spun as old skool this night. And plus the main dj I especially wanted to hear (Junior Sanchez) was delayed at the airport so no show. I don't know, maybe I was tired and definitely still leary from my Starscape fun, but I did not like any of the dj sets. The vibe, I don't know was on the non-social tip (ooh NY parties, either a hit or a miss) The only set I could really get into hardcore was Dave Ralph & DB's set. Everyone else's set I though sucked. Don't get me wrong, I most definitely still busted out my grooves on the dancefloor but it was short lived as I was trying hard to feel what the hell everyone was trying to spin.
I was mostly up on the 2nd level balcony on the left of the dj booth with my friend. That was one of the few places to dance. Or I was chilling & talking at he bar outside the DnB room. It was a good turnout of people, but somewhat crowded. The jungle room had the best ventilation, but again it was packed.
ANd I was only able to briefly see & speak with 2 blers I saw. Teddy & brooklyn. (what up peoples!!)
And I saw 5 close friends (non-blers) whom I haven't seen in over a year out at parties. (I miss my NY & my NY peoples much), it was definitely great those 5 people out. I stayed til end though cause I was mostly socializing catching up with those 5 people as to whats been going on in all our lives.
Overall this party was very much SO-SO, but whatever. Well I don't know maybe you others have different thoughts on this party then I do, but this is my opinion from my partying night.
and I'm out, I'll see ya at whatever next event I come out to. I'm chilling for a while for this whole Aug. month to save up for the Love Parade unless if something really hot comes up between now & then. but laters

ooh and "dippies" are very much still alive at NY parties, YUCK

i had an awesome time. the place was packed, but not toooo packed. people were dancing. the music was good. i didnt smell any dippies until afterwards outside. got my dance on right til the very last song. db was excellent as always. i think he should always play oldschool :D dj dan was pretty good. josh wink wasnt bad, but i dont often find myself getting into what he plays, oldschool or not. the dnb room was great, but waaaaay too hot for my liking (i was sweating enough from dancing in the main room alone) i wish i would have gotten to hear more of odi's set, but i stuck to the cooler main room. i was very surprised at the amount of people there for an oldschool party on a thursday night. anyway, it was good to see teddy, shafie, nicole, ollie, brooklyn, alex and anton... sugafist, damnit, i didnt get to see you though! sorry you didnt have as good of a time. hopefully theyll have more of these, seeing the turnout and such. but anyway, i got only a few hours of sleep, and even those my cat was attacking me, and worked all day nonstop, so i must go rest. til next time! :D

I had a great time last night. The music was awsome, I liked the vibe...it started to get a bit crowded but it wasn't too bad. We ended up leaving a little early around 3 or 3:30am cuz we were starving and tired, sorry for not saying goodbye to everyone, but it was awsome seeing everyone there :) Sugafist where were you!? All this talk and we didn't even see eachother!

It was only 10 bucks....yet I felt I overpaid.
Besides being hot and crowded....and everyone being sloppy drunk, which was expected and tolerable, the music sucked for the most part. I didn't enjoy anyone's set. Like every once and a while, I heard something funky for a hot minute...only to be mixed into something cheesy forever. Deep house (of which there was none) is sexy at 120 bpms... everything else could of been a tad faster. Seemed like everything kinda just dragged on.
Anyway, it was nice that everyone spun for free. I just wish it didn't sound like it.

Big ups to all the cool cats I met and love.
Nicole... Always a pleasure seeing your smiling face.
Ollie... it was nice meeting you man. I got a kick outta watchin you get all groovy and stuff. lol
Brian... Your dancin skillz are outta control man! Don't stop!
Arthur... Chatted with you for like a minute and didn't see you anymore. Good seeing you nonetheless.
Luke... Awesome seeing you again. You were too funny outside afterwards. lol Congrats on the Mini.
Chrissie... As soon as I saw you, your arms were wide open to hug me. hehe. I love you. I don't think I've ever seen you dance as much as you did. For being tired... you sure had loads of energy.
Shafie... Long time no see! Great seeing you again. I'll never forget dancing with you when we were at Arc. Forgive me for forgetting your friend's name (Amanda?)..it was nice meeting her.
Brooklyn... Only saw you for a hot minute too. Just enough to witness your hot moves though. :)
Anton... Yo, seeing you actually made my night! We finally got to chill at a party together. :) Keep bustin the moves bro!

You guys rock.

EXACTLY what he said. And thats why me & Teddy relate when it comes to the music and knowing whats hot to move our feet. Please, preach on brotha!!!

And to all the people I didn't get to see that were there, you all suck for not seeing me. hahaha, I'm jokin, but happy to hear everyone had a good time. I guess I'm still spent & tired from Starsacpe (amazing, amazing event), so thats my excuse for being moody and not having such a hot time at this event. But again, cheers to all that did have a fun time.

i had alot of fun esp Dara &AKs set.....
it was a weird night...chrissie &luke sorry i just bailed with no goodbye, my completely out of control friend got fucked with by security (who were pretty cool in the end) & i had to dip with him & his girl. It was my boyfriends first time ever in NYC & it sure was nice being back on the turf (although not back in a club) good time but cut short, I got to hear odi for like 10 minutes. Great to see you Teddy, wish we jammed hard here too...i'm sure we will meet again
all in all had a great time but reminded me a bit of high school ( that was b/c my crew got loaded, not b/c of anything else.....)

peace & love

well at 130am on a thursday night at an oldschool party, youre not going to find a packed room, especially if the party ends at 4... but i think it was pretty packed until then

but then again you europeans dont desire as much room to dance, and dont seem to mind being packed in like sardines it seems.

^ thats cuz there isnt. NY has been going downhill for awhile. matter of opinion i suppose.

NY brings the talent, its the people/laws that suck.
