NY, NYC - 07.03.04 - One Nation @ The Hammerstein Ballroom

thx Trixiee. was worrying a bit because on the site it mentioned something about one hour prior to opening or something.......

i heard tons of people are going.......most likely this will be a very good night.

^_^

=) leaving in about an hour - expecting to be there around 10:30ish (Pleasurehead is gunna be mad @ me for missing his set! =P)

Just got home safely from the party... it was an... interesting night I suppose. I had an amazing time for the first half of the party, Freaky Flow's set was on fucking point. Some nasty shit happened that kinda fucked up my night for awhile, but it ended on a high note, so overall I had a kickass time. I coulda lived without the drama I had to deal with, but it wasn't that big of a deal in the end.

Teddy -- I had an awesome time hanging out with you man, you truly are a standup guy. I'm so sorry about the shit that happened, but I'm glad things worked out good at the end. We gotta chill some more soon.

Trixieee -- Nice meeting yah, sorry I wasn't too social when I met yah. Next time though!

Jared, It was awesome hangin out with you. You rock! So, did you end up having fun? lol

Although I managed to have fun, this party was kinda whack.
I didn't purchase tix early...and I didn't feel comfortable doing will call at the last minute, so I payed at the door. $60 fucking bucks!! Fucking RIP OFF!!! That kinda set the tone for the night for me.

It was a weird night to say the least.
Spacegirl: didn't show..(I don't like her anyway...so I wasn't bothered)
AMPT: just plain god awful....went upstairs to the DNB room.
Freaky Flow: Alright I guess. I jumped around a bit
DJ DAN: rocked it! The bass kept phasing in and out during his and DG's sets though..
Donald Glaude: spun FOREVER. I think the volume for his monitors must've been set too low or something... his scratching wasn't even on beat most times. He's not funky enough for my taste. I couldn't wait for him to finish..
Green Velvet: The only dj I was really looking forward to dancing to..was on the stage for like 20 mins during Donald Glaude's set....but DIDN'T EVEN SPIN!!! ???????
Feelgood: Not present. Another bummer.
Paul Johnson: Not present. Yet another bummer.
ODB: heard he smoked a dip and passed out with his pants around his ankles...
Jackass: Why!?
Christopher Lawrence: I don't like trance... but I like CL. kinda disappointed me this night..
Dave Angel: Another one I was all set to dance to...Rocked it for all of 30 mins... the lights came on and the party got shut down at 4am instead of 6am due to Hammerstein claiming they had no license to stay open that late...blah blah...

So every element of this party seemed sorta ad hoc at best.
I managed to have fun and danced whenever I could regardless.
Great seeing some AWESOME people who I haven't seen in a long time.
Eric/Greg (you guys have become one entity..lol Always a pleasure to see your goodlooking faces.) Brooklyn (keep on dancin' girl!) Arthur (always smilin...and scopin out the gurleez..lol) Nicole ("feel the MUG!!"...lol I love you girl. See you in August?)
I hope I see all you guys REAL soon! Have fun at SS for me. :)

-Teddy

Overall I had a good time and all in all it was a worthwhile experience. I was pissed about some dj's not showing/spinning but it happens i guess... But we did end up having A LOT of fun the next day thanks to our final purchase before we left...

Red Arrow: I ended up gettin beat for pills there too, bought some fake Butterflys... found out they were herbal ecstacy pills... fuck that shit!

donald glaude made the party for me. the dont try this at home tour made it so much better since im such a huge fan.

ill be at avalon for DG 8/6

this was the party that pulled me back into the scene. see ya guys around

So yeah One Nation wasn’t all that, but I still had fun partying and seeing my people I hadn’t seen since March or even earlier this year. And I make the best of all the parties I go to, so like always I had a memorable/fun time.
So first, what up everyone I met. And I do mean everyone. I was in the company of MANY blers as well as many other friends and my NY peoples. And partying with people you know and just met definitely helps make the night fun. And in no particular order I’m just giving my all respects to everyone for meeting up with each of you and hanging out.

Nicole (girl you were my highlight buddy for the night, because we were vibing on every-damn thing that night. I love your company. We’ve got to party more……you make me happy :) And definitely thanks for the CD too. Even with me breaking & dancing the whole night with it in my pocket, it didn’t crack. And OMFG 3 of my all time favorite tracks that I’ve been searching for were on that one CD. Thanks much!!

Erik (always fun hanging out, dancing partying enjoying ourselves. Gemini people forever rule

Greg (another kewl kat. Having seen you since....wow early this year when I came up for I think IHAD. Your hair got longer. It looked wild, but definitely in a cool styling way. %) And I saw you rockin the whole night. Way to represent and party.

Brooklyn (whats up “B”, my favorite partying buddy. I wanted to dance & battle with you to show these people how truthfully to get down. This girl is an amazing dancer and she has allot of passion for her moves so I always enjoy being in her company and dancing with her. We didn't hangout much that night. Anyway, you know I forever have love for ya. ;)

Doozer (what up cutie girl. ;) Trust me fellas, she’s a cutie girl, but she’s taken so respect that first. Whats up cutie girl, I wanted to dance & hangout with you more too. Memories of us meeting & partying this year from Maimi & Ultra 6. is not enough. Anyways more parties to come.

Teddy (this guy, great guy. Always fun hanging out with this guy. We do what we always do when we meet & hangout at parties. We dance, we socialize, & offcourse we scope out all the ladies =D) and I've got some good shots =D

Alphakry (finally met you…..cool dood, HOLLA!! Happy to be the first bler you’ve met. And I hope I did my best to introduce you to others that I saw them walking threw. And yeah I saw you rocking the dancefloor. I love knowing and being in the company of people that dance and aren't just wallfloors.

FuzioN (what up man…saw & briefly talked to you for a moment. Great you stopped me. Nice to meet you. I’m a NY regular at good parties so I’ll be seeing you around. Next time we meetup, get something at the bar, hangout and scope out some ladies. =D

Kart (he doesn’t post-up much anymore, but he’s a forever a partier. What up man, happy to see you out partying. I know I’ll be seeing you around, cause we just vibe on having a good sense of when good parties happen

Aight so my partying night started off kindof wack with me paying $60. Way too fuckin pricey, but whatever I was there to see my friends and party with them
Anyway got in, did my normal walk around the main room and the other areas to look for people and checkout the vibe. I love the Hammerstein, so big, so spacious!! But yeah, the vibe was very mediocre. I mean people weren’t shady n shit, but they weren’t too social. I guess it was too early and/or their goodies hadn’t kicked in yet. :\
Anyway the vibe I though was off, but like I said it didn’t stop me from having a good time.
Music wise: Allot of good and bad. Very few great dj sets from the big names, but non-the-less it was good music to listen & dance to. I personally thought the djs in the smaller areas had the better sets.
The Jackass performance was just shit. I don’t watch the show anyway, so I wasn’t into the performance. As so as soon as they came on, I left for another area. I just heard from friends how terrible it was.
As for Old Dirty Bastard's performance. Me personally, I thought it was good & funny. =D I mean come-on people, that’s typical Old Dirty. At lease they were playing some old skool Wu-Tang hip-hop that everyone loves. I mean I hope no one was expecting him to be sober and perform every verse of his lyrics and not expect him to go off on some wild tantrum or be extremely fucked up on-stage and pass out. I totally expected something strange & wild from Old Dirty and I thought he represented his character well. Wu-Tang FOREVER!!
Hahaha, anyway, the overall party was so-so in my opinion, but still good. It was more of a reunion for me in seeing people I hadn’t seen in a while. And thats why I had a good time there eventhough others didn't. And seeing my people still representing & partying it was definitely the thrill & highlight of my night.
And forgot to mention that I partied absolutely sober that night. Well 2 beers don’t count especially since I’m a long island iced tea drinker %)ahahhah, anyways I still had allot of energy and I did have good fun.
Well I can’t wait for Starscape and I hope to see everyone there that can make it. That event is guaranteed to be MUCH better then this One Nation.
And the group pics and party pics & other pics from this One Nation party I have I’ll be sharing it with the people that are in them.

peace

I had a good time at this party - despite it being yet another disappointing SOE production ... I think I’m finally gunna put my foot down and say NO to any future SOE parties...

I loved DG's set. And Dave Angel was friggin rocking, for however few minutes he was on. I thought I wouldn't mind the jackass thing - but in fact, I felt it to be yet another gimmick that was just a waste of time and money. SS - who I love to death thanks to living in the UK for a while - was great. Everyone else was alrighty ...

I rolled in with about 13 people - so I had my work cut out for me all night, keeping track of friends! But despite the army I rolled in with, I finally got to exchange some words with some BL'rs!

Sugafist YAAY! It was great to finally meet you! I actually thought from previous pictures, you’d be like twice as tall and super jacked! Good to see you were approachable! And ya, as for my dancing ... this was the first time I’ve danced since Sneaky 2003 - almost a year ago! So I’m a bit embarrassed you got to critique me in such a rusty state - cuz I really do cut a mean rug!

Nicole It was great to meet you also. You seem like a really cool person and I’d love to sit and chat with you more some time - a time where I’m probably a little less spastic!

Gemini Great talking to you again also. Even though its been a good 3 years or so since I first met you, I’m still able to pull you out of the crowd!

If I met any other bluelighters, it was good meeting you also =) I'm not the best with names, so remind me so I don't sound like a tool next time we all chill!

I guess I better do one of these review thingies too....here goes :)

Despite all the obvious B.S that has been stated numerous times about (therefore I have no need to repeat myself, because I agree with everyone) I still had a freakin awsome time at this party. Music-wise was eh.....APMT wtf was that shit! I just absolutely HATE hardcore, so yeah this was def not doing it for me. Donald Glaude was the highlight, <3 Glaude....told you Sugafist! (and you didn't want him to spin :p) DJ Dan I enjoyed, and I thought Christopher Lawrence was a good change of pace for the party since we had been hearing a lot of house and hard stuff, and it had been 2 years sine I've seen him last so I thought he was enjoyable. I was so feeling Dave Angel right before the party got shut down so I was pretty bummed about that. It was definatly getting to hang out with everyone that made this party rock!!

Teddy - It was SOOOO awsome getting to hang again, it had been so long *tear* I was definatly "feeling the MUG!!" hehehe you rock, see you in August for sure!!

Sugafist - Glad to see the CD survived the party =D It was definatly great hanging out with you. We'll party it up more, SS in just 2 weeks :D!!!!

alphakry, xtcvitality - Though it was brief it was great meeting you, we'll have to chat more next time :)

also shoutout to my homies (you know who you are) fun fun fun!!

Hey guys...this is brian....great to see all of you at the party. Teddy, haven't seen you in a while before this party son. Just wanted to post a link to great pictures of the party. Brooklyn...there's a pic of you and chanel in one pic.

One Nation Pictures

looking at those pics - i swear i always miss the grand ballroom. how the hell do you get there? hah...nice pics, btw.

had a pretty good time. didnt get down as much as i wanted to. was carrying a camera which kinda pissed me off the whole night. didnt even snap enough pics......lol.

one thing that pissed me off at this party was no one was fucking dancing. everyone just standing around. also i didnt see rock steady crew. was lookin forward to seeing that.

even got to meetup with Sugafist. You cool peoples man. Ill def be hitting up a bunch of NY parties in the future so well def meet again. Next time grab some drizinks and mack da ladies. Fo sho.

One question.......who was the DJ that was sporting the double mohawk? His set was fucking sick.

I have to add that I also really enjoyed Knowledge's set

Taken straight from the SOE messageboard from Jeff

everyone was there except spacebitch, and devito
green velvet was there but didnt pay, dj dan played for 1 1/2 hours on the main floor, rocksteady crew was there, they dance a little , but they didnt want to perform on the stage upstairs because it was to small, so then when we brought them downstairs to go on the main stage jackass was on already, and well after what steve and chris did to the main stage , they left

Brian those pics really do make the party look better than it was lol

where Jeff says Green Velvet was there but didn't pay.....what is this supposed to mean? GV didn't pay what? or does he mean didn't get paid? or is it a typo and ment to say he didn't play? I don't know why he would be there and not spin, especially since he was on stage while Glaude was spinning. I dunno I'm pretty skeptical about this party. If you go to www.stuckonearth.com and go to the messsageboard there, EVERYONE is bitching and complaining, now you'd think SOE would come and try to defend themselves or offer better explainations.....but what I quoted above seems to be all they have to say for themselves, I dunno....

Anyway not like it should be a surprise, SOE's parties are always fucked up, props to them for trying to have a decent party in NYC, but something always goes wrong, people are always complaining.....always. They really need to back themselves up. I don't know how much longer people are going to be supporting them. They really need to try to redeem themselves or something

That was Venom ... personally, I didn't like the beginning of his set - so I left ... he wasn’t even mixing - it was more cross fading! And I’m an ol' ol' super ol' school fan of Venom - so it takes a lot for me to walk out on him!

Ya - I posed a good amount of concern to Jeff on that thread - notice how he pretty much ignored every valid comment I said, and instead relied on the "spacegirl was the only one not to show" comment ...

and what ever happened to posting the contract on the website? sigh...

well, enough relishing on the bad... someone give me a good convincing to go to Starscape!!!

1. THE VIBE!! =D 110% & real too. Similiar to the vibe at Ultra parties in Fl.
2. People fuckin dance at this party. So join in the masses and GET DOWN!!
3. The MUSIC which will ROCK!! (and especially if you're into DnB ::::::dj fabio::::::: )
4. Its an outdoor event overlooking the scenic view of the Chesapeake Bay with its cool breeze blowing onto the whole event

Yeah I saw what you posted and you just about summed up everyone's thoughts...very nice :)

Starscape isn't comparable to any NY parties at all. It is an entitiy of it's own :D

Sooo excited!!
