NY festivals....electric zoo

so i just saw all that shit about the EDC and i was like shit man NY's gotta have something.
and apparently there's this electric zoo festival thing that's supposed to have some pretty good performers coming up in september.

but i was checking out the website and it says some shit that surprised me:
-starts at noon
-ends at 11pm
and you can't bring:
•Outside food & beverages
•Professional cameras & recording devices
•Laser pens and similar focused-light devices
•Glowsticks, etc.
•Bottles, cans, camelpacks, canteens, flasks, bota bags
•Large bags/backpacks




what the hell is this shit?
obvs 80+% of the people are gunna be rollin there so what gives? i was considering going since there's never shit to go to, but now i don't even know if i would want to.
anyone been there before if they've even had prior ones, anyone plan on going, or is there any better events going on?
lol i really wanna go to some big, fun, cool, rave shit like what i've been seeing going on in cali, but it doesn't seem like NY has too much to offer with that unless you go to the clubs =/

and what's the point of going to one if it's going to be in the daytime, and when it is at night you can't have glowsticks, take a video of it, or drink your own damn water!

You can't bring food & beverage, Bottles, cans, camelpacks, canteens, flasks or bota bags because they want to sell you their overpriced junk food. The 'captive customer' theory applies to most events of any kind anywhere.

They talk only about professional cameras & recording devices. That means they don't want some camera crew filming high quality footage to sell it or leak it later. I'm sure you can bring your camera no problem.

The glowsticks and light toys well I don't know.. Maybe the promoters associate these with drug use and they want to discourage it to make the local authority happy. Or they want to sell you their glow sticks at 10 times the price.

Finally they don't want you to bring large backs or backpacks because it would be a pain in the ass for the security to search them all for the previously listed 'contraband' lol

Sounds like a poorly organized event that doesn't have harm reduction in mind
 
Damn that's a hell of a lineup! I wish I lived a bit closer....oh well, I was only an hour away from LA where there's like 15 raves every friday and saturday night, so i suppose im pretty lucky.
 
yea there really isn't a lot of things going on around here. and randall island events are ALWAYS poorly organized. I went there for warped tour one year and it was just a big mess. but i'm looking into this event. thx for the info
 
Isn't it part of the rave act that if there are stuffed animals or glow sticks, the club promoters should know people are doing drugs and are therefore responsible for the drug use in the venue?
I just saw some movie a few days ago that said something like that. It's completely illogical and illustrates how little the government knows about drugs.

Cuz god knows you simply cannot take drugs without pacifiers, stuffed animals or glow sticks. ;)

stupid government, I've never played with any of that shit while rolling...just gimme music and a girl to dance and cuddle with and I'm more than happy.
 
lol. yeah the line-up is good which is why i wanna go, but the main thing thats turning me off is its from 12pm-11....
nigguh the sun don't even go down until like 9 haha what is this!

This is how one of my local venues is. And I will show exactly what they did in each situation.

•Outside food & beverages Made me throw away my water bottle at the door
•Professional cameras & recording devices I saw a guy get thrown out for taking videos with his camerea.
•Laser pens and similar focused-light devices They confiscated 30 dollars worth of LEDs and made me throw away my glowsticks at the door.
•Glowsticks, etc.
•Bottles, cans, camelpacks, canteens, flasks, bota bags
•Large bags/backpacks Made you take it off at the door.

If its during the daytime then you don't really need glowsticks or LEDs. Once the better DJs comeout and everyone is rolling it is really hard for security to enforce the rules and usually they just end up standing there looking for kids selling.

yeah. well i still have some time to decide whether i wanna go or not, and if anyone will go with me. so i guess we'll see how everything turns out. i just wish there weren't all these stupid fuckin restrictions =/
 
IMO seeing armin, atb, benny, and deadmau5 would make it all worth it. I have seen ATB, Benassi, and Deadmau5 all before all on different nights. Seeing them all in one night would be pretty nuts. I'd say go for it! Security usually relaxes on the rules once everyone is rolling and very hard to communicate with.

yeah i figure i won't go till later on. idk if ill be able to go both nights tho, so it'll be a bitch tryina figure that one out too lol. figure ill just go the night ATB is
 
Ultra in Miami, Fl is very similar to this event in scheduling and restrictions, I've been to Ultra 5 times and never had a bad time. At Ultra all the restrictions meant is that you will have to buy everything inside. I'm not sure what these guys will have but Ultra had all the glowy stuff, candy, food and water you could possibly ever want. I'm looking forward to this event, haven't been to anything fun since I moved to chicago from florida. :)

Glowsticks and stuff like that signal obvious drug use to people who look down on raves.

Damn that is a sick line-up. The question is why are there so many good DJs but such a pathetic concept of a festival? All the rules and it closes at 11?!?!!? How did they get all these guys to sign up for this?!?!!
 
i know! i was like wtf why would they all agree to do this shit in baically the daytime lol.
 
I thought that there were no event discussions in the ED forum. Remember? Events + people talking about drugs = FEDS busting people. We didn't get a thread discussion like this for edc in la, why for new York? Maybe shift this out of ecstasy discussion?
