Lucky you. I'm in a building full of old people so my neighbors are no help. Also I'm taking classes at one of the CUNY schools right now to save money. So far my classes consist of:

1) Asians
2) Brooklyn Jews
3) More Asians
4) Assorted brown people
5) Boring white dudes

98% of them are nerdy as hell, and not the fun type of nerds. You know, those types who think they're smart because they're in college, but really they're not as smart as they think they are. I've met a few cool people at school but they're not into experimenting like that, just weed and booze. Except my aforementioned cokehead friend, but he doesn't even go to my school. I met him through a friend of a friend.

For real? I'm from NY, never really thought of the East Village as a dope area, except for Washington Square Park, which I know is notorious for being a spot for heroin users to be at, or at least it use to be...I know they've cleaned it up a lot.

Or perhaps I'm mixing it up with Union Square...I know a lot of sketchy people tend to be at Union, though I've met plenty of awesome people there as well. I love that spot honestly. Great place to meet performers and street artists.
 
Basically all of Manhattan south of 23rd street is a dope spot... Haha. Then northern Manhattan obviously too, Harlem, etc.

Yeah man, EV is crawling with it, always has been. That and further down in the LES. And that's just Manhattan for you.. forget about hitting the L train and going into Brooklyn.

NYC never struck me as a place to be considered "Open Air". Cops are all over the place, so a lot of the shit is low key. Definitely a lot of street dealers and users hanging around though, just gotta look like a normal person and not a cop to get them to try and sell something to you.
 
yea thats what i assumed, everything ive heard on BL has said nyc isnt open air

mr scags posts just made it seem like it was

but i agree with unbreakable, if i was in nyc having trouble id just go to jersey but thats just me n im not from there so my opinion dont really mean much
 
today was a good day. friend brought a bun over today that she woke me up. walked in and gave me a bag and smoked me up before my feet hit the floor.

boy was that nice.

No, certainly not open air.. not anymore. It used to be more so 9-10 years ago. I meant it just as there are a lot of dealers and heroin addicts just living and hanging out in that area, not so much as a bunch of corners with a dealer posted all day serving people.

When you're looking for a new connect, the best way to find a reliable one is to meet heroin addicts who know who sells good shit and who doesn't. You make friends, and you get their hook ups, but you have to go to where the junkies hang out, and the East Village is crawling with them.

I'd be a little sketched out asking a random junkie to hook me up. I don't feel like getting ripped off or asking the wrong person. Not to mention, I don't live in NYC but in one of the 5 boroughs, so traveling just to score seems a little ridiculous to me.

Well, if they say.. "Hey, sure.. give me the money and I'll be right back..." then you know they are full of shit... But, more so than just asking random street urchin junkies for dope.. The culture down there is very heroin oriented.. the art galleries, the live music clubs, etc.. It's a good place to meet cool people, actual friends, who also use H. What I mean is that that particular area of Manhattan has a lot of heroin addicts, (non homeless scum bag ones, though theres a lot of those too). So you have a greater chance of meeting regular people who happen to use dope than you do in lets say.. midtown for example.

It wasn't a recommendation for you personally, just a general statement about the heroin scene in Manhattan.

No, absolutely.

Honestly, I'd like to meet people who use it casually, I'm not in to the whole "Let's do this shit often!" kind of thing. I think the junkie lifestyle itself is intriguing in a sense that it's grimey, filthy, disgusting yet produces such a culture that is interesting in it's art and such, Velvet Undergrounds "Heroin" comes to mind.

It definitely is intriguing.. of course, once you're in it.. You start to see it for how fucked it really is. When I was younger, much younger..before I started using.. I totally glamorized the entire thing. All my musical idols were junkies, I heard stories about the NYC heroin scene, etc.. It was all just so enticing. But, boy do I wish I had a clue back then before I screwed myself up nice and proper.

What borough are you in? if you want to say, of course.

I've only been to a restaurant there once but I could see it being a place to go for that kind of thing. When I copped it was by Washington Square Park and the dope was so shit it wasn't even worth doing.

Unfortunately, though the city is currently flooded with dope.. There's also a lot of shit out there. However there is some incredibly good shit going around, probably the best it's been in the past 5 years or so IMO.
 
Scagnettie if you want to be a great musician you gotta do heroin. That was a quote from a jazz/metal drummer back in the '80s.

Hah, yeah man.. unfortunately when I was a kid I took that to heart. I was obsessed with the junkie rockstar bullshit... then I finally became one minus the rockstar part.. :\ Hah. But, I'll tell you... my music has gotten 10x better since I got sober. I mean, I'm grateful for the inspiration for the songs and shit but I mean as far as my ability to play it well, sing it well, and put on a good show... being sober beats being strung out by a landslide.

(read my blog about me face planting during a show for more info on playing high) Hah.
 
About time we get a thread on the NY dope scene. But yeah, Down in the E. Village is where i copped the last time i needed some. was about 2 months ago. It was pretty good too, But i got a girl's # so i just call her when i need it and head down there. But before, I used to get at washington heights. The stuff up there is just soo amazing, If you know where to get from. But one of my friend doesn't live up there anymore and the other i lost touch with(changed his # or got busted), So now i got to go to the E. Village. It's not like that's a problem, I've never really had any problems downtown or uptown. Even in spanish harlem when you go at the right time there are sort of 'open air' spots.

I'm the same way man, I saw the movie "The Doors" and i just wanted to do everything Jim Morrison was doing. I don't think anyone under 14 should watch that movie. Lol, I'm also a musician(more a producer), and i think when i'm on the junk, I'm more patient and i work longer on my tracks. I think i suffer from ADD when i'm sober, Cause i start something and quickly move onto something else, So sometimes i just want to make music while high.
