Nurse Tells Patient to ‘Man Up’ After Stealing His Pain Meds

Imagine having surgery to remove kidney stones without pain medication? That's what happened to a man in Minnesota last November after a nurse, Sarah May Casareto, shot herself up with the dose of fentanyl meant for him. According to the police report obtained by the Star Tribune, Casareto told the patient pror to surgery, "You're gonna have to man up here and take some of the pain because we can't give you a lot of medication."

Huge lawsuit thats gonna happen, I just dont see anyway that this man doesnt win this lawsuit. As far as the pain goes, I cant even imagine what he went threw as they were holding him down & needling & knifing him.

Thats just fucked up. All i can imagen right now is that episode of deadwood. minnesota sucks when it comes to hospitals and such. When my cousin got burned and had to be airlifted there and put into a coma the doctors and nurses where barely takin care of him. But ya this guy will win the lawsuit hands down

Casareto started slurring her words and then found her happy place, quickly falling asleep.

Haha as bad as I feel for the guy, that made me laugh. I watched that Nurse Jackie show on showtime a few times and that bitch would be stealin all kinds of pills or whatever, obviously that's not a documentary but it can't be far from the truth. I clicked on one of the links inside the article

The charges say the patient got only 150 of the 500 micrograms of fentanyl reserved for his surgery.

Sounds like she was going to split it with him then was like aw what the hell 150 mcg is probably enough.

Later, they found she had empty syringes with labels peeled off, a violation of hospital policy, in the pockets of her scrubs.
8) Fuckin' pure stupidity.

Wow.

I know a lot of people in the medical field are users/addicts of opiates, well, maybe not a lot. That's up for debate...but seriously, stealing somebody's pain meds right in front of them, shooting them up, and letting the patient experience extreme pain while you're nodding out? What the hell were you thinking?

I hope he wins that lawsuit.

That article makes me cringe...I can't imagine having to go through a procedure with not even half of the pain meds that an anesthesiologist determined I needed in order to not be uncomfortable. I have several friends who are nurses, and depending on where they work, some of them need to take routine drug tests. Also, I'm sure a nurse could steal the medication some other way if s/he wanted to, not in front of a patient's face?

And, I agree with NeighborhoodThreat...I mean, why the fuck become a nurse if you seemingly get off on watching other people in pain? As far as I know, people work their ass off to become nurses because they enjoy taking care of people, not watching them suffer.

I think if a nurse told me that right before surgery, I would tell them that I'd just go to another hospital. This isn't Africa, there's plenty of opiates. I feel sorry for the guy though, that sucks.

An addict will act like an addict regardless of the uniform (s)he wears on the outside. I'm not surprised.

So just buy some dope or some other opiate of the streets......

who the fuck are they to tell me what to do when i am in pain...

Kick the Nurse right in her shin, and be like man up; equal rights in the working place biiiiatch

I know opioid addiction and how it feels but seriously this Nurse should be forced to feel the withdrawals of opiates for the rest of her life.

this is why I always bring ketamine to the hospital with me before surgery. Always have a back up

^someday a gay aids infected junkie will ram you up your chute with a dirty needle.

Does that sentence bother you.......... Than your not PC enough...

I hate to tell you... but this happens more than you think. I work in Health Care. Not only are they fucking idiots but some are drunk, high, tweaked out, or just plain idiots. I personally know someone who goes to work stoned off her ass, then smokes a fatty at lunch. When I worked at a hospital up in Northern California, there were a group of nurses that moonlite as strippers in another city and on their days of would tweak for 3 days, then come work their shifts in the ICU, ED or Surgery. It is scary.

^ Dude, what the hell are you talking about?

Any federal or medical employee is God in a suit, be quiet and do what Prometheus with a degree and/or taser says.
