Sorry to start two threads so swiftly but I thought it would be best to keep my two incidents separate.

I've been IV'ing tar for maybe 5 weeks now. Have been a long time user though.

About 3 weeks ago around the time I first started injecting myself I missed a shot in the crook of my arm. As time went by i realized the underside of my arm was somewhat numb to the touch however not unbearable to live with. I believe a sterile abscess formed where the shot was missed. Days on in it seemed to harden and I realized I had pretty intense pain through my under forearm when extended with my wrist pulled upwards and twisting of the arm.

After this i decide to seek medical attention and went to the nearest ER clinic. Explained my story and was prescribed antibiotics to take for 7 days. The instructions were to take 3 pills every 8 hours for 7 days. I misinterpreted and took 3 pills per day. One every 8 hours. over the week the abscess rapidly went down. as of today it's almost completely gone.

I should also mention that I've noticed when I extend the arm and am experiencing pain If I push the abscess over a bit it seems to stop the pain all through the lower forearm. I kind of thought that It may be possible the abcess is pinching a nerve or something along those lines and when it completely heals the pain and numbness will go away? I've also noticed the pain seems to decrease a bit day by day but the numbness seems to remain the same.

The doctor ran various tests and found there doesn't seem to be anything damaging muscle or blood clots etc.

Has anyone else experienced a pain like this or have any thoughts? I truly appreciate any replies and thoughts... Thanks in advance guys!

Bluelighters will always say go to the hospital

But seeing as you've already been there here's my advice

If it grows, or doesn't shrink noticeably within the next couple days, or pain/discoloration gets worse, return to hospital

If it seems to slowly get better, just wait it out. Also if you only took 1/3 the dose of antibiotics as you were supposed to, I would maybe take a few a day for 2-4 more days
