NSW - Random Drug Searching on Public Transport

Yeah, really nice way to keep people fucked on drugs off the roadsFucking good point. I knew this was bad, but didn't think of it that way... this is not only bad, but against fucking logic!
I wonder if that entered their minds at all when they decided to do this?

Well considering the laws came into effect on the 22nd of feb, has anyone actually noticed any sniffer dogs hitching a ride on the public bus or doing the rounds of the local station? Laws are one thing, action is another. It sounds fairly farsical, extreme and an utter waste of resources. I high doubt dogs will be boarding your bus in the near future. I'm putting my money on the fact that the police force will be turning a blind eye to this one.

Even if they do take action on this one and start sniffer dogs...what can we do about it? We shouldn't have to take violations of our personal rights lying down, so..what to do?

Atleast they are having alot of the oppositions thoughts on this broadcast on TV, like Cameron Murphy saying it is a waste of resources and it is only going to target people at the bottom of the pyramid of the drug world... I really dont think this will last long because the police really aren't going to find big dealers on the trains, they are going to realise their plan is useless and stupid and discontinue it... It will create difficulty for people for a while but i personally dont think it will last. Stupid bloody police, as was said earlier, this is gonna do more harm than good, as small users will start driving instead of taking public transport (to keep others and themselves safe) thus creating more danger for drug users themselves and also the general public.
Stupid bloody police... i cant believe they really think this will work.

^^^ Watch who you're cursing there. Legislation isn't put through by the police force, it's brought about by the government. The police are just doing their job, enforcing laws, no need to get antsy with them. If you have issues with this new law, take it up with your parlimentary representative.
The police, particularly your average donut chomping officer, have no say in the parameters of their job. They don't necessarily agree with this or any given law for that matter. The only power they do have is how strictly they adhear to the emforcement of laws. Clearly, the police force agrees with the stupidity of this law and have shafted it down the priority list... i certainly haven't seen any dog squads lerking the streets.

i'm lucky cos i live in victoria & as far as i know nothing like this is planned for here. but i really do pity u guys.
but what can u do? nothing really, cos if this is what they call 'harm minimisation'(sp) fuck... god help them!
really what they are doing is scaring people, who are taking drugs, on to the roads to drive... or rather to kill!
i have the respect for other people & the common sense not to drive when using & personaly i think we should be encouraged to use public transport.
it's our choice to take drugs, we all know the consequences & yet we still do it. but it OUR choice & no fucking dogs will stop us!
the only way that the nsw police or whoever will learn is through our deaths. i know that's harsh, but sorry it's the truth.
i just wish they would open their eyes up & accept that drugs are out there & they are powerless to prevent them from being taken. so why not provide support for us & the generations to come who choose to use drugs, instead of scaring us into fatal situations?

I dont really think that it is fair to say "fuck the police". As porn* said, they merely enforce the law, they dont make it.
I think that it is absolutely ridiculous that the Government would waste such valuable resources when they are only going to end up catching small time users, not big time dealers/importers.
I'll definately be keeping an eye out to see if this legislation is actually enforced, police practices dont always comply with the legislation that is set out..

I dont think taking it out on the Police is the go. This was a directive handed down by Costa, so its the Labour Govt thats shooting blanks.
I understand they are trying to govern distribution outlets, such as central (which can go to other states etc). It certainly wont be on every suburban train.
So if u do go to GC, cab it, get a friend to drop u off, Should be safe training it back.

Its all good here in W.A
except the labour government said today there not drciminalising marijuan anymore.

Fuck the police.
Fuck the government.
Fuck the people who voted for the government.
Now get over it and find a way to rort the system
Thank you for your time.

porn* very true... i guess i just dont like the police very much... and the fact that i will prolly be on public transport this friday spurs me to say: stupid bloody police. Now i am twice as likely to be caught by the buggers :( But in hindsight i know they are just doing their job and there is nothing they can do about it... they may not even like the laws themselves... so i was being a bit abrupt...

Perhaps this is the step taken prior to introducing larger-scale roadside random drug driving tests? While police associations have vetoed this kind of testing in the past, that is not to say that newer testing methods have been developed which are more reliable, practical and efficient at roadside drugtesting of drivers...
BigTrancer :)

I agree with you porn* that the police have made targeting this type of drug user a low priority.
However as has been shown time and time again, our state government is not above making operational decisions on behalf of the police force as to what their priorities should be (just ask Peter Ryan).
Costa wants to make a name for himself as a "get tough on drugs" kind of guy.
What does this mean? There will be a visible police presence on public transport from now on (otherwise why announce this in a press conference?).
So who's taking the train out to GC now?

What i wonder is , will we feel the same way about drugs when were say 40. Like most 40yr olds do now????

This is simply just a media stunt to win some votes for next marchs election for big bad boby car!!
now remember the knife searches.??. how often do you see them going on now? yeah ok you hear about the occasional one but honestly those people who are searched are looking a bit obvious to the coppas.....
now with the dogs they'll go out hunt round this weekend and it'll make the labour gov.t look fantastic in the front page of sundays paper. but i will put say....well how about a pill... on it, that by 2 weeks time from this sunday you will not hear of the dogs searching around.....yeah they will still do it now and again but it'll be just a random thing when they have a handlefull of cops with nothin to do.....and how often is that hey....cops with nothing to do....well ya see em standing round alot but really they have 60% of their time, of a average cops time this is, weighed down with paper work.....they'll use it as another tool in their nail bag that they pull out rarely....
many people have said it.... that this will only nab the small guys.. the users on their way to clubs raves whatever..... ok fine but is that stopping their problem...... no it looks good in the papers....
if they wanna put a halt on the problem they have to get the guys making it importing it and breaking up the big ammounts to the 1st couple of hands......
i mean i don't want em to do that so just keep doing what your doing bob car.... you'll be a hero on sunday morning!!! but not in my eyes... cos i'll be laughing at you!!!
oh and one more problem this does cause.....
ok this will push the small dealers off trains and small users to take cars to their night out....what does that do??? somebody?? anyone??
makes people drive on drugs and knowing they wont get caught cos the only test a cop can do is have a suspition the drivers on drugs and get a blood test done.....and for 1 minute all you have to do when pulled over.. is act straight.....unless u r completely fucked...in which case if your driving you should be caught anyway.......
have a good weekend and be carefull evryone at least for a couple of weekends...

What sort of fucked up bullshit is this ??
this is the most fucked thing i have ever heard !
as one of u said, "we will have to roll in our own backyards"!!
Does anyone know were this will be taking up, in what area's?
And also does anyone know any good conceling idea's??
This is total bullshit !!!

my mate has been stopped by a sniffer dog at newtown station. (a fair while ago this was)
just use your head and you could work out where theyd be, the cross, cabramatta, 'grungy' areas like newtown, homebush when theres a rave on, etc.
