Hi.
Need some help.
Can you get all the hardware to iv from a chemist or do you need to go to a needle exchange?
Also can a chemist refuse to supply these or ask tricky questions. Both of which would be really embarrassing!
Thanks for any answers : )

I can't give a definite answer about NSW; in QLD most chemists stock sharp kits (I think they're usually around 5 needles, a water amuole or two, safety displosal bin, and those cigarette-filter kind of filters) but they're not free, unlike needle exchanges.

Every chemist should stock 27 gauge 1 ml syringes for diabetics though. I guess it's at their discretion as to whether they'll sell them to a drug user.... It can't hurt to walk into one and ask, what's the worst that could happen? Just don't carry anything illicit on you at the time to be safe (the same goes for visiting a needle exchange, another Bluelighter reported getting searched by police coming out of an exchange in Brisbane earlier in the year :/ ).

(I've edited the thread title)

95% of the chemists in NSW will sell them to you.. well they at least stock them!

It comes with everything you need. Even the alcohol wipes etc etc..

Pretty neat.. my buddy gets them for banging speed. He even bought me a kit should i decide i want to experiment or whatever!

So yeh only a couple of dollars man... say 5 -7 max

surely prices can stand due to HR..

anyways yeh.. go get one

I have been in certain Chemists in the city and seen people ask for "fit packs". They then hand over $2 and get a small green plastic box.

yeh..

Sharps kit

Fit pack

etc etc..

i daresay calling it a 'fit' is going to raise some alarm bells. as far as i know its only users of illicit drugs that call them fits isn't it...only heard the slang term in drug circles and isn't well known.

in the states most head shops wont sell you a bong if you call it a bong. you need to call them "water pipes" or some hoky shit like that, stupid i kno.

i've been refused empty caps a few times, for what i can only assume was knowing what i was after. once i went in there and acted real confused like "yea my mom got this weight gaining powder, tastes horrible. i heard there's some sort of thing you can put it in so you dont have to taste it? do you have anything like that?" then they were ok and sold it to me....

but yea point i'm trying to make is be careful what you say and how you describe it, slang stuff like what i'm pretty sure 'fit' is wont go very well imho...

In Australia, a fit pack is a package of syringes specifically made for injecting illegal drugs. When pharmacies sell fit packs, they do so knowing exactly what they are being used for. There's no need to pretend you're diabetic or that you've got a diabetic cat or whatever else. Just go in and ask for a sharps pack / fit pack / 10 of ya sharpest / whatever. If they stock them, they'll sell them to you.

In melb the chemists in sometimes won't give you them. I once had an argument, at the hospital chemist in richmond here - that chemists can sell them without a 'prescription', obviously for the diabetes i don't have. I proceeded to tell her that if she didn't provide the equipment needed it would;

a) put me at risk of blood borne virii
b) at least set me back 10 mins walk to the chemist up the road who will provide them.

She still said no.

That said, ask at chemists with a friendlier tone - they'll usually sell you what they have.

Depends on what u ask for and how u go about it. I have been refused purchase for needles but i have had friends that have asked for fit packs n was fine. Comes with needles/syringes sum mite even have swabs/sterile water in a small vial and etc. Dont have to lie about it. They are the ones sellin it and ur the customer who has every right to purchase it so dont be afraid.

Yeah just ask for a 'fit pack' at a chemist or whatever and you'll get one, never heard of anyone being denied.

Most hospitals/medical centres also have big black vending machines. 3 bucks for a fit pack, 1 buck for a condom. Novel.

Its gone up to $3? its been a while!
how much lubes do u get with a franger?

yeah behind every nsw hospital there is a needle vending machine. has no filter.
The black boxes are reused and taped up always made me scared even though the needles and everything like swabs are brand new of course

Its $4 at the vending machine around where im from..
A Total rip...
Or you could just walk in and ask at the triage desk wheres its free...
Tho i totaly understand why some would rather pay and stay anonymous..

Im so keen on starting up a non profit needle exchange around here, that has delivery at certin times.. Tho id require government funding, which im dam sure as hell they aint going to give me...
Foolish pricks..

Yeah I used to go in to the needle exchange part of the hospital and say look i am a dealer i dont want my clients sharing works and I could take as much swabs and 27g rigs as I wanted and they thought I was a nice bloke....

made sure i didnt have to go back there for about 3 more hours (joking)

I've only been rejected once at a chemist they asked me who it was for, i told them for myself n then they said no, other than that i havnt really had a problem.

it wouldnt be my first choice though I feel more comfortable getting them from a needle exchange where i dont get judging looks plus theres more IV equiptment n info there and they know why your there so theres no uneccesary questions or rejections.
