[NSW] - Defqon.1 - September 18 2010 - Sydney International Regatta Centre

^^ Oh yeah I keep meaning to tell you personally that I can't go!! Boooo indeed. We might not even be in Sydney in September! If you still need a place to stay let me know and I'll keep you updated with if we'll be around to have you over :)
 
great to see interest in this event!
I love hardstyle (and hard trance), I went to this last year and am going again- booked our flights and accomm the other week. We stayed in the city last year but this year we are staying in Penrith with a big group of mates- lots of us post on The Harder Forum I (and before that Global Hardstyle Forum)

Shame no Zany, Donkey Rollers , Luna and Noisecontrollers (from memory) this year, for me I'll be mainly around Blue stage. Not a fan of the tok-tok-tokky lame/cheesy nu-style that's being released these days..

would love to meet all BLers going (esp. you the_ketaman, have seen u post around here for a while now)- lets make a time/location for a meet up closer to :)
 
Yeh id love to meet any BL'ers going too(will be great to meet you too MG2S, and btw when was that photo taken?), I think when it gets a little closer to party time we should exchange phone numbers because if anyone has ever tried to do a BL meetup before you'd know that its pretty hard to get everyone there at one time, especially when everyone is munted.

Cant wait, starting to get excited.
 
how do u spot a blulighter at defqon ? :P running into people randomly is the best. and whoever asked, yes i went to magic city and got a defqon times... some good shit in there :)

They will be a bit cheaper than what you can get them for from Q-Dance website and Ticketmaster and you get a free defqon necklace! Also have plenty of Q-Dance newspapers for those who want all the details in writing.

Hopefully the BL meet up is more successful this year!
 
question... ive basically just got into the whole dance music scene (ecstasy omfg.. ill write an experience report)
and i went to we love sounds on the 12th... yesterday.... best day of my life(mdma :))))))
bands like crookers underworld steve aoki laidback luke..

will defqon crowds be all dancing or a lot of hardstyle dancing like gabba shuffling etc?
its just that you gotta learn it and its hard (lol) whereas the festy i went to yesterday is just dancing i guess or will defqon have normal dance dance like we love plus shuffling,hardgabba blah blah?
just wouldnt wanna go and find that i cant dance cos every1 is shuffling

The crowd that's throwing down gabba and shuffle without giving you help/pointers on how to improve your form isn't a crowd you want to get in to. There are all kinds of people doing all kinds of dance so i wouldn't worry too much about it. Enjoy yourself and you'll be one of the people others are trying to dance like.

RE the bluelight meet up i'm keen as well as another bluelighter i'm going with. If you're all comfortable i'm happy to receive PM's with everybodies numbers, compile them and send a mass PM back out with the numbers all in the same message. We can figure a time and place publically on the thread.

Just another reminder about the police dog presence, be sure to tell anybody you know thinking of bringing anything that there will be a few dogs there and tents for searching if it's anything like last year. Avoiding illegal substances is advised - just like anywhere else =)

Mate, who the fuck cares how you dance?? It's a party, there are no rules. If you want to learn to shuffle there are million tutorial videos on youtube. But otherwise, just dance however you want to dance :)

nah didn't go to Maghic City, I live in Melbourne and I've seen all of em at least once anyways.
Went to Sydney for a weekend in mid May however- went to a small event called Codename: Chaos that my friends were running and my bf and other mates played at I guess no one heard of/went to that?..

the_ketaman: the pic was taken out front of hard trance stage/area at last year's Defqon. Around mid-arvo when we had our GHF meet up

arr the wonderful discovery and mdma and it's lovely pairing with dance events, enjoi :)<3
mate don't worry about how everyone is dancing and whether you can or not- it's really anything goes, the bottom line is as long and ur enjoying yourself who cares what you look like! There were many different dance styles on show at least year's event- including many people just moving/jumping about or even not moving much at all. Also the main styles of dancing vary from state to state (like Melbourne there's shuffling but it's been dying out over the years, Sydney there's a lot of "lad dancing", some Brisbane people 'stomp' or something like that it's called..) so yeah it's a mixed bag.

also to emphasize what lunchbox08 said- going from last year's event there is a very strong police presence including dogs, total search of all bags, pockets etc etc- not worth the risk. Even know one person who got stripped searched coz his jumper smelled of pot from the night before.
Given all that Defqon was probabaly the first big event I ever went to not having/taking any party treats but that didn't stop me from having as much of a blast. Cept a whole day of drinking Smirnoff cans added up cost-wise! :-7

the chickendance you speak of I'm guessing it's the Sydney lad dancing we saw last year where they bend their arms and hold them/move them about like wings whilst kinda prancing/stepping with pointed toes- such a funny looking dance, as a group we still burst into it now and again as a joke while out back here in Melbs.

Haha mate, I have no fucking idea. The infiltration of lads in to the rave scene is solely what killed it, in my opinion. I don't know how they think they're so tough...and then proceed to dance like that hahaha :D
 
I didn't even lay my eyes on a drug for at least a fortnight before the event last year and got strip searched. Honest as the grass is green i just had plain shorts on, a black t-shirt with 4 coloured pac-man characters on it, my hair done up a little bit as i happily wear it around my office day to day, cheap shoes that matched my shorts and cheap sunnies. No phat pants, no beads, nothing (i personally don't have any nor do i like the idea of me in that scene at all) apart from regular clothes to listen to some music and dance with a mate. There were people around me with their hair spiked massively in coloured mowhawks, phat pants with every kind of reflective stripe and basically any kind of candy gear you can imagine anywher - hair, necklace, bracelet yet none of them got stopped. Plain old regular joe me got stopped while every scene-specifically dressed person around me walked though. For whatever reason the dog reacted to me and BAM.

So long story short before you go looking at other threads no, no you're not going to get anything through.

Definately frowned upon. I'm not even sure about some of it. It may have once been based on human behaviour but once that nike cap goes on you can never be sure what species it is or what bizarre ritual is going on.

Didn't even lay my eyes on the smoked butt of a joint toenibbler, apart from the fact that i'm not a fan of smoking before going out somewhere i just plain old had no contact with anything associated that i am aware of
 
Its a shame about the amount of dogs they have. It just means that im going to smoke tons of ice before I go(for the length of effect) and double drop before I get in(I dont advise doing this) I dont drink much and im almost sure if I did get drunk it'd ruin my day so im limiting myself to 4-5 drinks throught the day night.

Im getting excited!!!
