Not sure where this goes... Question about k-pins.

Hi, this will be quick and easy. My Dr. switched me from xanax 1mg 2x a day to kpin 1mg 2x a day because I was too early for my xanax refill and I was needing a higher dose of xanax... Now that im stuck with kpins for a while I need some info (that i think i already know from experience). Klonopins are weaker than xanax right? And if not, he should have givin me 2mg kpins. I wasnt feeling the 1mg xanax which is why I wanted to switch to a higher dose, and xanax kicks in quick which is the way I need my meds. Now im stuck with kpins, they take over an hour to "kick" in and I dont even notice anything. I dont feel any better, I feel like ive taken nothing. So.. are 1mg kpin = 2mg xanax? Any more info please tell me... I am panicking right now because I have until january before I see my doc to tell him i NEED the xanax for its fast acting relief....

Please utlize the benzodiazepine conversion chart, which you can find using the search engine. It claims klonopin and alprazolam are equipotent, but I feel as if alprazolam is a little stronger, albeiet shorter acting. I prefer klonoping since it is lonver acting. Ifyou are concerned about the onset,, dissolve them under your tongue. In my opinion, 1mg klonopin 2xday should be alpprazolam should be 1mg 3 times a day due to its half half. I advice talking to your doctor this weei.

This is a simple one. Clonazepam and Alprazolam are supposed to be equivalent mg for mg. The half-life of Clonazepam is a lot longer, potentially over 70 hours, but that's probably a stretch. For this reason though your Kpins aren't gonna give you the rapid relief that xanax might.

I want to but I just saw him this past friday and he sent me home with nothing, I had to call back asking if I can be put on kpins for now cause I was out of xanax and he wouldnt fill it. So I am afraid if I call again he might drop me, but the kpins arent working the way the xanax were... I need them for instant relief and kpins dont do that for me.. any suggestions on what I can say to my doc?

I know you don't want to hear this, and its a little clichè, but total honesty will get you much further. Don't think about what to say, just tell him exactly how you feel.

I empathize with your situation as I have been there myself, but it is against the rules to advise folks on what to say to their doctor to get certain medications prescribed, be it legal or illegal.

I would try and utilize what you've got for now, wait it out a little bit, and then talk to him again. Honestly has has always gotten me where I awnt to be when it comes to doctors.

I have never had a problem switching from xanax to klonopin or valium to klonopin.. I have been on benzos for years. Refer to the benzo chart but basically since klonopin is long acting you can dose it all at once in a 24 hour period and not experience xanax WD. I have done it many times. Good Luck!

If you nag your dr you will sound like a drug seeker and he might cut you off. Just food for thought.

The Kpins will stop general anxiety.. xanax stops the panic attacks in their tracks. If you keep calling your dr he will drop you. If you are misusing your benzos I reccomend you stop now because Benzo WD is no picnic and it's dangerous.

apart from reading through other peoples experiences this is something you're going to have to take up with your doctor.
