Benzos Not sure what to do, no insurance

Actually many states are now offering a adult version of Medical assistance where they once only offered to pregnant woman and women with kids.
That is a Great thing so those wanting or needing it try looking on your states dept mental health and hygiene site (google)
You can also since you were prescribed it in the past likely able to make a appointment through a local free clinic and tell them that you went uninsured and are in need of your meds they will write the script with a check up in most cases as long as it is not something narcotic.
Do a google search for state and county for free clinics or sliding scale clinics

also all health depts. usually offer a mental health clinic and you can also locate slicing scale places or free ones through that site for your area too
Oh and just so ya know at free clinics if you see the doc free and they give ya the script if you let them know you are not working and not able to pay for it they usually will cover it for you. This is again Not true of narcotics they will not hand those over free (tried that with no help 8) )

Good luck

try calling local psychiatric hospitals. most offer out-patient services and operate on a sliding scale fee, meaning pay is based on how much money you make. if you are unemployed some places will just write off your account as charity and you get no charge.

and for the meds, ask at the pharmacy about any county or state medication plans available. most are free to join and offer a big savings, and most are unknown to the general public.

^most psychiatric units are very against prescribing any benzos. They mainly just want to put you on anti-depressants and anti-psychotics, and maybe some sleep aids.

^ thats true.. the only reason my psychiatrist started prescribing me benzo's is because i was addicted to phenazepam and told him and he said that he would rather have me taking a script than "something off the street" <- his words.. mine were "it's not the street, it's the internet" lol.. but anyways i was put on 5mg clonazepam/day (not enough for my tolerance but i eventually adjusted) and am lowering my dose to ween myself off them, w/d's from benzo's suck and are dangerous.. i would try a different route for your anxiety.. try a hydroxyzine and clonidine combo if possible. much safer and easier to get prescribed.

really? my city has a psychiatric ward that is located in the main hospital and also branches off around the city in smaller locations for out-patient services.

i was admitted into the psych ward several years ago and one of the first things they gave me was lorazepam 3 times a day, and continued that script once i left. they set me up with one out their out patent clinics and benzos seem to be their number 1 med they script for panic attacks/anxiety.

it probably differs from state to state but for the psychiatric services here you don't need to have been admitted first to start out-patient services. but i know there's usually like a month waiting list.

during one of your panic attacks the ER would probably give you something. they also operate on a sliding scale.

@RedThorn, I agree. I live in Canada, although the UK have a better setup than we do, I couldn't imagine having to pay for each visit.

Obama has been screaming about health care reform since he took office. In America we are still screwed without insurance. I lost my job, therefore lost my benefits, and was on klonopins for restless leg syndrome. Now I mostly have restless legs every night. Occasionally I get some passed to me and I am very grateful, and very careful with them. I would dearly LOVE to have my xanax back but I can't afford to go to the doctor right now. I used to have plenty xannies and plenty kpins. I would still have some when I got my refills!! My life is not like that anymore. I'm looking for work still and I hope I'll find something good. I need to see the dentist.... OMG. I used to get my teeth cleaned every three months. It's been a year and I have two broken teeth. In the back fortunately but I loved being able to go to the dentist. (I guess most people don't love the dentist but I loved being able to smile and to laugh freely.)

After reading about Europe and Canada I'm about ready to expat the U.S.
