After having my second child i got addicted to Norcos and i take up to 5 a day (10-325's). I need some help from people that know what they are talking about to help me get off of them. Is this the wrong website to come to? Ive been taking them for about a year now. I love them but i gotta get off of them , b/c i cant keep getting scripts for them forever. anyone ?? help !? <3

You can do it yourself and we are here to help, however New Member Introductions isn't the best place to post this.

Here's where I would start...

if you have health insurance, then I would go to suboxone.com and look for Suboxone doctors in your area. Call around and find one which will accept your insurance.

if you do not have health insurance, then you can...

examine the free Suboxone program to see if you qualify.

You can go to a doctor on an out-patient basis (meaning the doctor helps you get some medication, you go home, and detox yourself, without having to go into rehab meaning an in-patient rehab facility in which you are checked in somewhere) and do this yourself. I did it and I have been clean for a while.

Only certain qualified psychiatrists are going to be able to prescribe Suboxone, so there is no need to go to the same doctor you are getting norco's from in order to get Suboxone, you just have to find the right Suboxone doctor in your area.

Call ahead to the clinics where they operate out of, and ask any and all questions you might have.

They have a basic intake procedure, where they access how badly you are suffering from opiate withdrawal, and then they will access how much Suboxone you will need. Then they send you off on your way for one night with your own Suboxone (typically a few 2mg tablets), then you come back in the next day for your month's prescription.

This is how a lot of places do it; you don't want to go for the places where they want you to be "in patient" for a few days - and you don't want to have to be in withdrawal for days on end. As soon as you are in the worst of withdrawal, and they will be able to tell by taking your blood pressure, heart rate, and asking you questions about how you feel, then they will help you out.

Make sure to understand the costs and fees for medicine and doctor's visits ahead of time, so you can be sure you can afford help before you get the ball rolling.

thank you captain.. And not to sound like a broken record, but the healthcare system in the states sucks dick...no offense to anyone..but its meant to be one of the most prosporous world leaders..but they dont look after there own people.
All the best again to Carolinagirl...

I hope you find that this the site for you. We have people from all walks of life and from all over the world who are ready to listen and give advice. Just look at all the love you have already gotten in this thread.

Welcome to Bluelight!! :)

wow yall are awesome , thanks so much for welcoming me:) Im really looking for someone to chat with that has also been addicted to norco and could give me some advice, although you all have already gave me gREAT advice. I am going to look in to the subxone (sp) doctor.
I dont want any other doctors to know about this , so i wouldnt want it to be on my records as i have health issues and i dont want to never be able to get narcotics again if something happens .
I do have health insurance and ive already met my 5000 out of pocket so it might be payed for but then again, i dont want other doctors to know about this . Im suppose to be having another surgery again soon and what if they just let me be in pain and put me down as a drug abuser. again thanks for all the help thus far !!! im glad i found this place that people can relate and dont tell you that you have to go through NA etc..i DONT wanna do that and i really cant for many differnt reasons .

Be sure to read The Dark Side guidelines and rules to know what is expected of you as a member as well. :)

The BLUA is also a great starting point for the site-wide rules.

The US health care system isn't good, but it's certainly better than living in some other countries which don't even have buprenorphine available, or in one country which has prohibited it completely.

The politicians surely don't take care of their own people, of course I can agree with that, but I haven't been disappointed with health care in a while now.
