North Carolina Partial Needle Decriminalization Bill Passes

So it's actually illegal in some states to have a fucking syringe on you unless you have a prescription for them? That is fucking insane! I have never even been turned down for buying syringes at the pharmacies here and they know full fucking well most of the time what many people are getting them for but they rarely say anything to me besides did you want short tips or long tips? I would really like to see some numbers on the rate of diseases such as HIV, Hep and other diseases transmitted through blood comparing places who have laws against buying or possessing needles verses places where you can buy them at pharmacies and get them for free at needle exchanges. The needle exchange here will even come and pick up used needles at your house and deliver new ones to you along with whatever other supplies they have that you want so you don't even have to leave your house to turn them back in if you live in the city or burbs.

Yup if you get pulled over and they find a rig they will def tear your shit apart looking for contraband. Probably even get a drug dog out if one is close by, if they cant find anything else then in a lot of states they will just arrest you for the paraphenillia. Rediculous i know. The first thing they are on is this guys a drug user so that euals criminal in their book. They dont think about the public health risks as its not their problem, unless of course they manage to get stuck on your rig, then all hell breaks loose.

Who knows the deal with getting arrested v. getting a ticket for needles? I've been hit with a paraphernalia plus CCW, but didn't get arrested, along with many people I know in W-S. I know of at least one person (in Asheville, not Winston) who got taken to jail for a rig. Is it completely up to the cop or a city thing or...?

I kinda have to laugh at the absurdity of having rigs legal to purchase, but yet simultaneously lay down paraphernalia charges for possessing the legally purchased syringes.

My experience when I was down in NC was that actually all the pharmacists were awesome, the cops were chilled out and let me go when I got pulled for speeding etc, the airport TSA dudes were lackadaisical (good in this case as I had to bring my supply of dope with me from Chicago and back, moving heroin in your sock through an x-ray machine at O'Hare is not fun, I shudder even recalling that). I was in Fayetteville and Charlotte and the W-S area, mostly Fayetteville though. Is this just NC cops/pharmacists etc being cool with out of state junkies or something? I mean, I get the dirty looks from pretty much every pharmacist here in the Chi save two, but in Fayetteville it was like 'let's make honestly polite, not-facetious conversation with the junkie!'

Was weird. Maybe it is just an out of stater thing, but NC impressed the hell out of me in pretty much every way. Virginia on the other hand is as far as I can tell the literal asshole of America.

EDIT: I ought to qualify these statements as follows. While NC seems to be a paradise on earth for out of state young, white, reasonably-educated males, there was no ignoring the obviously racially motivated policing. Fayetteville is kinda ghetto (made me feel right at home to be honest) and while I did get stopped once for speeding and promptly let go with no ticket, black dudes were getting pulled over in cars and on foot left and right.

The thing is though, Chicago is just as bad in this regard. That doesn't make it okay, like 'Oh it's like this everywhere, too bad!', but it makes it hard for me to sustain any sort of extra anger at the supposedly extra-racist south/southeast when the same thing exists just as explicitly and awfully here in the midwest. I'm angry about it to be sure, but no more so at North Carolinians than Chicagoans. If you ask me both groups are pretty much equally at fault.

Was it for a brand new rig though? Or a used one? Big difference IMO.

That's still rough though 23536.

New.

I'm embarassed to say this but she was ready to snitch. I didn't approve, but she'd been in prison before and it was more than just a principle to her. I still considered splitting up with her because I was friends with the dealer and thought that what she was doing was immoral.

The case was dropped when the cop didn't show up in court or something. The weirdest thing about it is the dealer drove her to court when she was preparing to snitch on him. If he knew, he might've driven her to the Everglades instead.
