Megathread North American Railroad Videos (Trainspotting 101)

I took this train trip by myself in 2000. Really a great ride through the mountains and by the Copper Canyon, which is bigger than the Grand Canyon. I got off in the town of Creel and took a bus down to Batopilas, a little village in the bottom of the canyon. I did a whole bunch of wonderful hiking ( my main reason for going). I also accidentally got a little tour of some guy's marijuana and opium farm when I came up on it. I'll be honest, I was pretty nervous but he was very friendly and proud of it and even asked me if I wanted to take pictures. He posed next to his plants with his kids and the family dog. Very sweet. Just another proud farmer with his crop, like my grandpa with his corn.
There was clearly a big cartel growing presence in the wilder remoter parts of the canyon (not so much in the mountains where the train ran). They weren't as bad back then as they got to be later, but it was definitely on my mind because I was hiking pretty way out there. Nowadays, I'd be cautious about those remote parts but I think the train itself is pretty safe.
