Normal Side Effect?

Alright, so I recently started doing ecstasy occasionally (hallucinogens and/or uppers of any kind have never really been my drug of choice per say). I have rolled three times in the past three months or so. The last time was this Monday night (about 4 days ago now). I'm having this weird thing happen to me that has never happened before. It seems as though every time I look to my left, I hear a weird little noise in my brain (kind of like an electrical sound or like a light is starting to become brighter). I didn't notice this happening the past couple of days although I have been feeling a little bit more stupid if you will.

I have to say, I did take 5 and a half pills on Monday. My previous two times rolling I hadn't exceeded taking 2 pills. I had a really good roll and it felt relatively clean. I know that taking that many pills isn't smart, so you really don't need to give me a lecture about that. I'm just wondering if this kind of side effect is normal and if it will go away.

Thanks in advance.

I've had similar experiences- it sounds to me like a milder form of a "brain zap"- with MDMA, you're low on serotonin for quite a while afterwards (serotonin take a long time to replenish naturally), and the lack of serotonin seems to produce some alarming, but temporary responses. 5 pills is a lot, especially if you're new- the recovery tends to be worse the more you do, and based on your past experiences, it sounds like on Monday you did more than double your total life tally of MDMA, so negative after effects are likely. Are you taking 5-HTP? That may help quite a bit.

After doing a quick google search, the brain zap thing seemed most likely to me as well. I haven't been taking any HTP -- I probably should be.....

How long does this sort of thing normally last? And when do you think my serotonin levels will be fully replenished?

Serotonin replenishment is a little different for everyone, so I can't give you a number of days- and the more sleep you get, the better. Don't freak out- you haven't ruined your brain. =) The reason the "rule" is often 30 days in between rolling, is that full recovery is thought to be achieved at that point, but it's more likely you will feel fine in a few days- I think we've all experienced what you're going through.

um...

Stop taking MDMA?
5.5 pills is a Lot of pills just for your 3rd time rolling. Ease up on the dropping and try to keep it to about 2-3 max every 1-2 months (atleast!) for the best experience.

I feel you. I was only going to drop 3 but certain circumstances came up.....basically I got the other pills for free and it was in my best interest to use them at that time haha......

The first two times I rolled I literally experienced very minimal side effects, i.e., no lack of sleep, not a huge comedown feeling, no twitching, no abnormal brain feelings. This time I really took a hit. I couldn't sleep a wink for about 30 hours after dropping that first pill. HORRIBLE comedown in which I was alone in a room full of overpowering sunlight in the early morning hours. Like I said, I have also been feeling weird (for lack of a better term?) for the past day or two. Oh well, I guess this comes with the territory.

I think that Bsiren has answered this brilliantly - too much mdma in such a short time leading to brain zaps. Bigger breaks - less pills = Zap free Brain.
