not so much the retaining of the essence of poo ;d

rather.. no longer using shampoo or other products that strip the scalp of its natural oils and pH

it came up again and i'm interested to give it another shot for at least a few months.

i think there might be a balancing out after an initial period of 'ugh, bleh, gross' after maybe a month or so. where people say their hair is healthier than its ever been, it is less dry/frizzy, don't need product or w/e.

supposedly a solution of tea tree oil and water can reduce the itchiness of the scalp initially and perhaps a more pleasant odour. some people are into apple cider vinegar / baking soda.

i'll try to just do water and maybe experiment with tea tree oil at this point. i'm interested to see how it progresses. my plan is to do cold showers only from this point forth, i don't want to get warm water on my hair whilst i'm trialling this idea.

has anyone given it a fair go?

Could never go more than 4-5 days without a wash, it just starts to get itchy and I get serious hot water on scalp cravings.. that's one of my favourite daily moments, having hot water on the scalp.. fucking incredible :D

I have long hair that comes down between my shoulder blades, but if I were short haired again I would probably try it out.

I shower 1-3x week and wash my hair with water 1-4x per month. I promise, promise you it is not greasy. Your body just needs to adapt. Our society has a very unhealthy obsession with excessive hygiene maintenance.. you will be much better off if you do it less. At first it is a little greasy or smelly though. Been doing it for 4 years and my dry skin and hair is now perfect. And like I said, my hair and skin is amazing. S many people have acne and or dry skin that could be solved by this

interesting, i have heard positive things about washing less frequently than the every day shower that everyone seems to do. i'm thinking of just using rainwater on my hair as well because i think the chlorine and flouride and other shit that is in the tap water where i live could be damaging as well.

I used to not shampoo my hair and it's made it more soft and made it feel less damaged because of the natural oil. It also grew a bit more, though that may have been because of the conditioner I was using. I'd occasionally put apple cider vinegar in it, but that didn't do anything for it. I wash my hair at least twice a week now, and I hate how it is the next few days after. It's impossible to style and frizzy and fluffy and tangles more? Ew. But due to hormones, it will get EXTREMELY oily if I go more than 3 days without washing it.

Overall, if you can stick to it and can get past the part where it freaks out and gets really oily, you'll have shinier, softer, more-manageable, and possibly longer hair. It's really good for it because the stuff in shampoo meant to strip oils (which are there to protect your hair in the first place), also strips the actual hair and can make it thin and flat. My hair even gained a bit of volume after a while of not washing.
