Hi all.

Newbie here with a quick question. There doesn't seem to be much online about this topic.

Is it safe to take noopept with SSRI's? (specifically citalopram, I am on 40mg a day for anxiety, yet it seems useless)

I have read many good things about noopept (along with some bad) and I really want to try it to see if it works for me, I am just concerned that there may be downsides or dangers to mixing it with SSRI's. As far as my research has led me to believe, nootropics are relatively safe to mix with other drugs.

Any help and advice will be much appreciated :)

Thanks!

it's hard to say because nobody really knows for sure what the mechanism of action of racetam nootropics is, which makes it difficult to predict potential interactions. i have seen a few reports of people combining e.g. piracetam with citalopram and it seems to be nominally benign, and racetams seem to be fairly benign in general, so i think you will be OK combining citalopram with noopept. do note that noopept is supposed to be something like 1000x the potency of piracetam so it might behoove you to start small and work your way up, maybe starting off with a quarter or half the suggested daily dosage of noopept to feel out how the two drugs will interact, if at all.

Thanks for the advice. I plan on starting with around 5-10mg 2 times per day for several days, then probably increase it to the maximum suggested dose of 30mg (15mg 2 times per day) just incase there are any side effects. I have heard some people say it can increase anxiety.
