Non-raving Bluelighters...

Hmmm i dont like to stereotype or generalise but yes i do consider myself a raver .... well a raver with a twist of punk thrown in :p

I found out about BL from a raver at a rave whilst raving .... is it not obvious that yes i am a raver haha :p my definition of a raver is someone who is very much in the scene, goes atleast twice a month and bases their lifestyle sumhow on the 'rave' culture they are apart of .... to be honest i doubt id even know about BL if it wasnt for raving in the first place, but then again its an open forum and raves and drugs are just a small section of what these forums are all about .... BL pretty much caters for all type of people watever your into ....

but with all that said .... who am i to say who is or isnt a raver? im sure everyones got their own definitions of what or who a raver is ....
 
If i had to be put in a catergory in would have to be a DOOFER and a proud one at that =D

I went to my 1st rave after i started doofing because i was dating a 'raver' at the time and he dragged me along to one, i've only been to 4 in the last year and i have "rave" and "doof" friends because some dont go to the other although some go to both :)

I still liek raves, they are uplifting, electric, youthful and buzzing with energy

Doofing however is my UTOPIA ;)

i dont consider myself a raver, used to be one, dropped out of the scene a bit and life is so much better these days. these days i still take stuff every few months but just at a pub or mates house or something.

the term "raver" is very stereotypical to me so i dont really like to use it on ppl

ill go to an event of some sort in the future(prob utopia as its turning out yuck) doubt it will be my last ill be the now and again guy that gets dragged along

Well i havent actually been to a utopia yet, i said that in meaning the actual context of what a utopia was....doofs being heaven on earth to me ;)

I actually moderate a sydney rave site, i think it's hilarious that a hippy doofer is a mod on it, so many 'ravers' are pissed off on that board caiuse i am, i love it =D

From that board i actually asked the question that if this was a rave site why was their so much talk about people actually defending the fact that they arent a "raver" and the conclusion that came out of it was that ravers are associated to being plurred up drug fucked idiots and thats why they don't want to be associated with that term
 
i come in here looking for the person who detests raves the most and there is no comment to be found. whats the deal jb? =D

RL = Quickly becoming less a raver by the day for a number of reasons. The drugs don't work like they used to, I'm getting bored of the music played (with exception being breaks) and finally but most importantly too many fuckheads at raves. Now that harsh criticism is only relevant now because the drugs don't do it for me anymore, because to be quite honest there were plenty of them around when I was getting ridiculously messy every weekend. It was just the effect of the drugs helped embrace what was only a very small emotional connection that made me feel ... 'yeah all these people are really cool'. When I go to raves nowadays I see too many fuckheads driving shit cars that haven't been serviced for years, too many people 18 yo dorks packed into an '84 Laser driving the equivalent of twice the circumference of a capital city of your choice just to get a pill each meanwhile they can't afford to pay their mates 100 bucks to repay old debts, too many willfully under-achieving dickheads who have no education or drive to succeed, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

I

I arent a raver. I bodybuild and use steroids. I laugh at candy ravers and wonder what they will be when they grow up.

However, this site has lots of useful information and can be quite funny at times. So I dont go away much to a lot of peoples dismay.

Take a sample slice of any other part of society made up of generally young people from a broad spectrum and tell me where it is different please?
 
i'm still a total rock pig, but i'm definitely classed as a raver when put in opposition to "non-raver". i pretty much don't go to clubs at all, but probably attend five or six raves a year now...so yeah, i definitely prefer the atmosphere (and at most times the music too) of a rave, whereas clubs are too small, and i often find the attitudes of people to be far less friendly...

im a non-raver. dont listen to electro music.. been to a total of 2 raves and spent most of the night wandering pretty bored. i like rock music. i like lyrics that are more than "reach for the stars". i like emotion in my music. i have been told there are these things in electo, or emotion at least, but i certainly cant find it *shrugs*. so i like a wide variety of music, anything from Sigur Ros, Bjork, Tool, Pantera (tho rarely nowadays) NIN, Modest Mouse, etc etc etc the list is of course pretty endless :).... but Skid Row... i mean cmon :-P

i dont have a problem with techno and the like, alot of my friends are into it, i use to get into it, but as you said, i like music with emotion too.
you just cant sing along to techno.
i like playing around on my mates decks, but you cant beat bangin out power chords on a guitar%)
