I'm asking the fucking questions!
Lately I've been far too busy to cook meals with work, my GF and gym time amongst other things, I get 1 cooked meal a day for dinner and that's it, the rest of my food comes from sandwiches, processed meats, cheese, noodles, nuts ect...
Diets pretty shit if I say so these days I havnt had the time or money (due to unforseen circumstances) to keep it going.

Can anyone suggest some good sources of good carbs for me that don't require a lot of effort to make or eat, and not oatmeal because I can't stand the stuff. Weight gain has slowed down and I need to get it going again...

Thanks lads

Imho, there are no good carbs and bad carbs. The glycemic index, which many people built their "good and bad carbs" theory on, was mainly used for diabetes. But nowadays, this index doesnt mean anything.
The only bad carb i can think of, is fructose. (and saccharose cause it contains fructose). Fructose has been shown to have health consequences f you eat a certain amount everyday. So i think as long as you're not eating too much of it, you're good to go.
Just google that stuff to learn more about it. Jason blaha made a good video about this on youtube.

But using that theory means I could just sit and eat spoonfulls of sugar to get my daily carb intake? Which doesn't seem very good to me to be honest, I could just sit and pig out on sweets and chocolate everyday?

here's what i do when im on the run, oats can be eaten uncooked or minute rice if u really cant stand oatmeal. i eat canned tuna or canned chicken with them...there u go perfect meals ready in under 5min

Unsure who is making the one cooked meal a day, if its you, cook several portions of meat with some pasta or rice and use one portion for dinner, the rest chuck in a tub with some salad or mixed veg and use it for the next day... Buy the whole lot cheap, in bulk from the supermarket at weekend... Also buy frozen mixed berry's and chuck em in with a load of nuts'n seeds, add yoghurt if you wish... Add olives, avocados, or straight olive oil for essential fats... Eat loads of eggs, ideally for breakfast.... Force yourself to eat oats, try em with milk and blueberrys....
You need to improve your diet nolys, eat like shit you'll look like shit....

Brown rice? I know you asked for carbs but if you are tight on money you can always go to walmart in the early morning and get the marked down meat that was from the day before...very cheap that way.

I went and bought 15 packets of microwavable rice there basmati and pilau rice. Each have pretty good carbs in them and nearly 500 cals each from carbs with very little fat, these fuckers should help me out, I would eat rice standalone with nothing else if I needed to eat... I also get tins of chicken in asda/walmart cheap with near 50g protein in them though the fat content is pretty high too. I eat a lot of cashew nuts and bombay noodle mix. I always get a decent amount of protein into me, its just the good carbs I can't get... Buying 2 3kg bags of weight gain tomorrow and see if they help at all, extra 1200 cals a day (mostly clean not sugar) and 40g protein in it...
Clean carbs are a bastard to come by, if its uncooked carbs its more than likely sugar...

my vote goes to rice. cook a whole pot of rice and divide it up into sandwich bags in portions you want. microwave for 1 minute on high with a little water (or throw some precooked chicken in the bag with the rice) and it will steam nicely. yum. was my lunch for many days.

tuna and rice go well together. canned tuna mixed with your rice should be nice and lean and if your tuna is in oil you get healthy fats with it too :D

edit: is there a thread in here for recipes and quick meals? or would Healthy Living be the place for that?

I just got a packet of that rice, 2 tortila wraps, some ham slices, grated cheese and cholula chilli garlic sauce. Heated the rice, put ham on the tortila, covered it with the rice, put cheese on top, back into the microwave to melt the cheese then took out, chilli garlic sauce all over, wrapped it up and by god was it good, it was fucking outstanding actually and took literally 3 mins to make it...

I like buying prepared fish for dinner. Usually at some stores in the evening you can find fish that's been marked down because it expires that day for cheap. A few pieces of salmon, tilapia, hadock, cod, or flounder; Marinated or breaded for anywhere from $1.00 to $2.00 that only needs 4-8 minutes in a toaster oven preheated to 350 degrees. Quick, cheap and easy protien. Add in a packet of rice like nolys is talking about and you got a cheap and quick meal with carbs and protien.

You can't go wrong with cans of tuna, chicken, and salmon. Add them into some mutligrain pasta (cook a enough to last a whole week) with Alfredo sauce, pesto, or tomato sauce and that meal literally takes minutes in the microwave.

new TV show: "cooking with Guido and nolys" taking notes now. all that sounds ducking awesome.

Guido wtf you doing renaming my thread!?! Jk better name anyway...
If your in a hurry or not too hungry you can always have a pint of semi skimmed milk instead of water to push the protein content up a bit. I can't eat in the mornings for whatever reasons so I have a liter of milk instead

stick em in the fridge and they're good for at least a week. freezer they can stay for pretty much ever

I thought it was more like a day or 2...
Anyway new easy as shit recipe from me here that I currently threw together on my lunch break, again involving some of my rice.

Microwave the rice,
Empty onto plate or bowl
Mix in full tin of tuna or possibly 2 tins
Add some hot pepper sauce and voilla...

40g of protein
37g of carbs (none of which sugars)
9g of fat
5-600 calories

In less than 2 mins and was surprisingly tasty.
These microwaveable rice packets are making my life sooooo much easier.
Also I've bought some corned beef to try, £1.50 worth of corned beef has nearly 100g of protein wtf?

Good advice.

I think that working out first thing in the morning is more conducive to a productive lifestyle. Get up, eat, gym, PWS in locker room, grocery shop for marked down food, home and cook it, eat, go about your day.
