Nodding??

So, I'm pretty new here and being in my 50's I'm at a loss for some of the slang used on this site. For instance, when someone takes a bunch of opiates and talks about getting a nod or nodding off, I'm not totally sure what they're saying. It sounds like they're falling asleep, no? Sometimes, someone will say they want to get a good nod on or something like that. Personally, I can't imagine enjoying a good buzz if you fall asleep. I mean, you just as well take a sleep pill, right?

Anyway, I appreciate clearing things up for an old man. Rock on!!

nodding- typically in reference to taking opiates. For example oxy or heroin. A good high, good dose produces not only euphoria and all that jazz but you enter a state of falling in and out of a waking/dreamlike state. This doesn't mean you sre falling asleep, just feeling extremely relaxed. Your head nodding up and down. Hence-getting the nids. Most consider this an enjoyable effect of taking opioids.

The goal of nodding is not to fall asleep. That would just be a complete waste. The dope 'nod' is when you see a dopehead standin up straight and kind of alling foward with their head tilted but they never actually totally fall LOL. While it may look like osmeone is sleeping or keeps falling a sleep chances are they feel amazing. Usually dope will not put me to sleep..actually the opposite. If I am really high I can't fall asleep.

Just go to youtube and tyupe in heroin nodding.. you will find your answer.

Thanks everyone! I still don't care for the feeling of almost falling asleep. Back around 10 years ago, my doc bumped my Oxy script up too fast and I was walking around stoned all the time until I got used to it. My wife used to get pissed at me because I'd spill my drinks all over the furniture. The real bad news was that I had a thing for grape juice back then and boy did that make a mess!
