This seems to be a recurrent problem amongst this forum ... while we have FORUM GUIDELINES it seems that people are either ignoring them, or feel the rules somehow don't apply to them, well, this is not the case... I am going to spell this out as CLEARLY AS I CAN as it would appear a lot of you guys brains are too clogged with THC resin and Robotussin to comprehend these things...
By "Pill-ID" we (the Other Drugs staff) simply mean ANY POST asking for the IDENTIFICATION OF A PILL ... for instance, you found a cap that says "Ethex" and has the number "001" ... well, you want to know if you found something good or something worthless? So you make a post asking for the identity of this cap ... (fyi, it's potassium) .. or say you find a pill (since the whole cap thing might have confused some of you) that says "WYETH" with the numbers "4188" on one side and on the other you see the number "200" ... so you make a new thread asking what this is (that's amiodarone HCl btw) .... you might even spice up yer thread by throwing in bits of useless drivel such as "THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!@!!!!!@@##@!!" or "I found a bottle of these in a trash can and took 6, what did I just take?" ... you might even get crafty and combine such useless commonalities, for instance, "THIS IS AN EMERGENCY, MY SISTER JUST TOOK 9 OF THESE PILLS SHE FOUND!!!!@@#$@!!" ....
You get an idea of what a PILL ID is? Well, no matter WHY you need to know, IT'S NOT ALLOWED! .... did you get that? NO FUCKING PILL ID'S WILL BE TOLERATED IN THIS FORUM! .... maybe once more, again, for the repetitious sake of repetition I will repeat it yet another time: NO PILL-ID'S!
If you post a Pill ID, the there will either be locked or deleted ....
So how DO you find out what you have? Hell, if these posts were allowed how would you're fellow forum mates help to ID the pill? They would use one of the follow websites:
http://www.rxlist.com
or
http://www.drugs.com
NOTE: I know about the 3rd site, the one thats a message board for Pill-ID's - well, it's hosted and link to an online pharmacy source, so no, that one wont be given...
Both allow you to search by imprint codes, color, etc.... the second has pictures..
Now should both of those fail you, then you can use the telephone to call one of two places:
Poison Control - look in the front of your phone book, or hell, since that probably to complicated for those posting Pill-ID's, call information and ask for the NON EMERGENCY number for POISON CONTROL ... when you contact them, simply tell them you need a "Pill-ID" *gasp*.. now SOME AREAS do NOT OFFER Pill-ID's to anyone except Law Enforcement or Emergency Medical Services, this is because of too many people (like you) that feel the need to call to see if grandma's pill will get you high... so, if that fails, you can call -
Your local Pharmacy - again, since the whole "phone book" thing might be too much for you to get, call information and ask for the number of a local pharmacy ... when you get the pharmacy on the line, it DOES help to have a story - a good one is that you're tending to you're elderly father who suffers from Parkinson's, he has ALL his pills in an organizer so you need to find out what this one pill is, as you can't find the bottle it came in - the pharmacist should help you ... usually it helps to call late at night, when they are not busy .. if one store says no, try another...
Now, if ALL 4 OF THESE RESOURCES FAIL YOU, then you should probably see WHERE you got it.... if you found it, I don't advise you just pop it.... if POISON CONTROL says they can't find it, it might be from outside the country in which you live ....
But, knowing all this, THERE ARE TWO THINGS WORSE THEN POSTING A PILL ID!:
1) Posting KNOWING that it's not allowed and ASKING that people EMAIL or PM you with the answer - in this case, the thread will be deleted, in fact, other threads of your might also be deleted as I wouldn't want you to take advantage of those that have helped with you're other questions ... you will be warned with the CLAWS system (a permanent warning) a ban will be requested, and when it gets working, you WILL BE BANNED FROM OTHER DRUGS using the 'FIST' system (expected to be up by the end of '03 ...
and just as bad -
2) Responding to a Pill-ID .. if someone posts a Pill-ID, the proper thing to do is use the "report" feature to report the thread, if you're all high on XTC and feel full of PLUR you might even want to direct them to this thread ... but if you reply telling them what the pill is, YOU will also be warned using the CLAWS system, a ban will be requested, and when 'FIST' is working you won't even get the chance to explain yourself, we will simply BAN YOU FROM OTHER DRUGS ...
I hope this was clear, but I'm sure we will still see violators.... well, be assured that when the option to ban a member from a forum (FIST) is finally up, your time will come ....
NOT TO BE A DICK but look, yer wasting our time as well as your own ... with about 95% of Pill-ID threads we will catch - usually because someone else was kind enough to alert us to this ... if you took the time that you invested into posting your stupid question, oh, sorry, there ARE NO STUPID QUESTIONS (just inquisitive IDIOTS!) into using the resources above, you'd have your answer ...
