No more Clonazepam or SSRIs = feeling MDMA effects?

So, about a year ago I made a thread on here explaining how amphetamines (I just included MDMA in that category even though it's not fully an amph.) don't do what they're supposed to do to me. I started off by saying some background info that I thought might contribute to their not affecting me, so I'll do a kind of "recap" of that because I still feel that it may play a role in the non-effectiveness of amphs.

I have Juvenile Myclonic epilepsy that is not 100% under control (maybe like 80% ) for reasons that my Neurologist can't figure out and I'm taking Lamictal for it. When I was 15 - 17 I was prescribed numerous antidepressants but am no longer taking any of them. I haven't tried MDMA or any other kinds of amphetamines since then, so I'm thinking that they may have not worked the way they should have because of the SSRIs. I'm 19 now, and I've been taking Clonazepam every day for the past half-a-year-ish because they controlled my seizures pretty much completely but started weaning off of it two weeks ago because I really am not supposed to be taking them every day. The weaning process has been hell. I still have two more weeks to go until I'm completely off the pills. I know that benzos prevent LSD and mushrooms from working the way they're supposed to, or at all; I've experienced the letdowns firsthand because I wasn't aware that they did that when I was first starting to take Clonazepam every day. :/ Lamictal doesn't do any of that as far as I know from what I've read.

Anyway, since I won't be on any sort of SSRI or benzo once I'm done with the weaning, is it a possibility that MDMA will do what it's supposed to do rather than make me slightly sleepy? I'm going to a concert in mid October and was planning on trying it at the show. Think I'll have any luck?

Once the Clonazepam is totally out of your system, you should have no problem rolling. I'm on 200mg Lamictal, and you're right it doesn't dull any effects of amps, or psychedelics. How long have you been off the SSRI's? They are known for serotonin receptor downregulation. So basically your receptors need time to re-wire, so they can release that sweet sweet serotonin fully. Just make sure you have a test kit. MDMA is becoming increasingly hard to find. It's all RC's out there. :/ GL, and have a Great time! :)

Its a misconception that benzos prevent lsd and mushrooms from working. They lesson the intensity of the trip. I was on 3mg of Clonazepam while on a light dose of 4-ho-met and I was still getting intense visuals and tripping my ass off. All it did was lessen the anxiety and allow me to sleep once the trip was over. Some anti-depressants on the other hand can completely block the action of psychedelics depending on which type you're taking or block most of their action.

I was on 4mg Clonazepam, took two tabs of LSD, and didn't trip at all. 1 week later I went 3 days without my Clonazepam. Took two tabs off the same sheet of Lucy, and tripped my balls off! I guess benzo's react differently for different people.

If you are prone to seizures, and whether they are controlled or not... It would be not so wise to consume MDMA. It would also be selfish to be with friends having a good time, you knowing you are prone to this and seizing out on them while rolling. It is ultimately YOUR choice, as are all decisions in life... But I have witnessed seizures first hand, and they are fucking scary.

Very good point poke!! I have Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, with Tonic Clonic Seizures, but I'm on Keppra & Lamictal. They've completely controlled my seizures. Even rolling many, many times! I guess I'm lucky. To the OP; does the Lamictal completely control your seizures, or is it still just 80%? Because that could end very, very badly!

@darkcloud: I've been off antidepressants for over two years now, and I'm gonna try to order a test kit online asap so it arrives here in time before the concert. :D If that doesn't work out I'll probably just take some acid. As for my seizures, I've only had two tonic clonics since I was diagnosed at 13. One when I was 17, and one a little over two months ago. The first one I had was because I had somehow missed a day of taking my meds, which of course would make anyone with my type of epilepsy have a tonic clonic. Taking your meds every day is a MUST if you have JME. The second one I had was caused by all of my triggers (mine are extremely high heat, not getting enough sleep, hunger, dehydration, drinking [alcohol] a bit the night before, fatigue and stress) being present at the same time, which of course, again, would make anybody with epilepsy have a seizure. And I had also taken a Clonazepam. So really, I'd say I have my little myoclonic jerk seizures just when any (usually a combination though) of my triggers are present... but then again, wouldn't that still mean that the Lamictal isn't doing its job...? I mean I know that seizure meds aren't supposed to just diminish the seizures completely; triggers just lower the threshold for them. But the Lamictal not working the way it should is what is preventing me from driving. If I have seizures at all they're just little jerks but they're crippling enough to make it so that I can't legally drive. So... I dunno.

@Xzbtya: I guess it must affect everyone differently, then. I don't trip at all when I take psychedelics while on benzos. I actually sometimes take benzos during comedowns to make any weird side effects go away, or when I for some reason want to stop tripping, because they kill the trip completely.

@poke: Yeah, that me-being-selfish thought did come to mind, which is why I'm kinda leaning more toward acid now. I'd rather take something at a show that I'm extremely familiar with rather than experimenting with something that may or may not affect me. I think I'm just excited to try it now that I'm not taking anything that might prevent it from working heheh :) But you're right, I should do it on my own time in a safe environment.

@sun milk: Yea if you just had a seizure two months ago, don't roll!! I know all about the driving situation you're in. It was the same for me, until they put me on Keppra in addition to my Lamictal. I've never had a seizure since. Its been 5yrs since my last one. But we have different types of epilepsy so idk if it would help you. You should talk to your neurologist, and ask him if maybe a combination would be more effective in controlling them 100%. Keppra is known for being a good combination med with Lamictal for preventing seizures. There may be others too. The Keppra & Lamictal combo saved my life. I had 10+ min. brain damaging Tonic Clonic seizures. Plus I can still roll, Yay. :) GL with everything. Have a good Trip! ;)
