no idea about ketamine

hi,

I've got some ketamine for the weekend and I've just realised I know nothing about it beyond it being horse tranquiliser and a 'club drug'. The thing is, that sounds a bit confusing as I wouldn't expect a tranquiliser to be a club drug like speed or mandy tbh. My point is that, if I take it on a night does it completely knock you out, figuratively speaking, (snorting a few lines) as I would expect it to, or what? weirdly I've heard from friends that it does give you a buzz like an amphetamine, is this right or are they mixing it up with something else like mcat?

basically I'm bloody confused and I want to know whether to take it at the beginning of a relatively active night or to wait and take it to mellow at the end?

cheers! any advice is greatly appreciated!

k low dose = similar to being drunk. disassociated from your body a bit so you are a bit wobbly, things are funny good times etc...
k high dose = completely disassociated from reality in the k hole.

source: i've done k

God I hate when ketamine is called a horse tranquilizer; that is just a term the media uses to make it look worse and and thus their story gets more attention. It is used on people regulary. Nobody calls xanax dog axeity pills just because it is also used by veterinarians.

I don't see ketamine as a party drug like say mxe but if you are gonna do it in a party setting just do a tiny dose and don't mix it with alcohol.

Just start with a key bump and you'll get a basic idea of it's effects. A low dose will not floor you. You might feel kind of floaty and want to walk around even. You'll almost instantly be in a great mood and feel sort of spaced out. It's very enjoyable for most people in low doses. In terms of the satisfaction it gives me, I would take a line of K over a line of cocaine on every single occasion.

A somewhat higher dose will make you want to sit down, chill out, space out, things might start to get kind of sparkly or look like they're flowing around a bit. It might feel sort of intense if you're not used to it, but once you are used to it you may find yourself extremely comfortable in this mindset.

A higher dose than that (100mg or so, perhaps) will start to make you feel like you're on a spacey trip. Your thoughts will be increasingly dissociated and abstract, although possibly extremely focused on seeing things from different perspectives. Your surroundings will start to take on different forms, but not at all in a way typically seen on LSD, mushrooms, etc. Things will deconstruct, reconstruct, and flow in very intricate ways. You may start to feel strange gravities and like you are starting to slip into a dream state.

A higher dose (200mg maybe less with no tolerance) will give you a K Hole. Don't attempt this until you are comfortable with a 100mg dose and only if you have found that enjoyable. At this dose the laws of physics will be rewritten. You will enter different realities in your mind. And you will be basically immobile. You might not know if you're even alive for certain. This is one of the more intense drug experiences, IMO, but considering its intensity it's really not scary. Just make sure you're in a very controlled and chill environment for this.

Like a few folks said dont do it early on Be careful and dont do it if your very drunk (could depress your breathing pretty bad) and basically to me I feel like a zombie on it. but to each their own. be safe

don't do it at a party for you first time, when you gain insight to how you react to low doses it could be the best party drug ever - you just need to find where your party dose is, not that k-holing floored in front of the speakers isn't fun :D but unless you are going to a underground event without security you could get in trouble hahaha :D

I personally love ketamine at parties/nights out etc. But I know a lot of people that hate it also..As others have said I think it would probably be better to try it in a more controlled setting before you have it on a night out. I think that at relatively low doses you do feel kind of stimulated, but that could just be placebo to me, kind of the same stimulation I get when I start drinking.

I'd also like to point out to be very careful with dosing, because the effects of ketamine completely change once the dose gets higher so you don't want to have too much straight off and end up stuck in a place you don't want to be for an hour or two. I'd advise against having anything over 30-40mg to start off with, I think this is a reasonable dose to find dancing very enjoyable due to the floaty feeling of your limbs which is one of the reasons I think ketamine has been pretty successful as a club drug.

Once again, be careful! Ketamine can be a very powerful and strange drug at times, but I'm sure you'll enjoy it as long as you're not stupid with it.

I absolutely agree that the OP should not combine ketamine and alchohol, but for reasons other than the risk of respiritory depression. Ket is not a CNS depressant and it does not depress breathing - in fact it slightly stimulates it.

The main reason people advise not combining ketamine and alcohol is it's easy to get really, really trashed on the combination and end up so incoordinated all you can do is lay down and try not to vomit.

Please don't mix K and alcohol, pick one or the other.

if you have experiance its ok, ive done it countless times when i do small lines and a little bit to drink and its great combo!
i know alot of people that enjoy it too just be extra carefull and reduce dosages of both and yeah first get a feel of the drug by itself

We have a First Time Ketamine Thread which this'll be merged with once you've had the chance to reply. You'll find a lot of useful answers there.

There's also the Beginner's Guide to Ketamine which is worth checking out :)

Ketamine isn't similar to amphetamine and you'll find more similarities with traditional CNS depressants - though Ketamine, being a dissociative, is something entirely different. If you have experience with DXM or PCP you know sort of what to expect - if you don't, brace yourself for a ride! :)

Personally I think there are better drugs for the club/party environment than Ketamine though. For me Ketamine is all about eyes closed, laying in a comfortable bed, on a high dose, either in complete silence or with Shpongle in my headphones :)

I couldn't agree more! Your advice is 90% correct. I'm an old timer (54), spending my formidable years (ages 12-22/ 1970-1980) growing up in Buffalo NY. My drug of choice for about 6-7 of those 10yrs. was injecting PCP(phencyclidine). Back then it was referred to simply as "T"...being promoted as an injectable weed product. It was sold in either a white powder, like 'K' that could be snorted/injected, or a brown sticky substance . PCP, like that of it's weaker cousin, ketamine, can have a variety of bizarre side effects dependent on the user, the surroundings and the strength/amount used. For whatever reason, most inexperienced PCP users suffered from a fear of death if they did too much. Personally, back then, I refused to use with people who hadn't done it a lot. I got sick of people screaming..."I'm dying" or "I'm going to die!" Like putting on a throw-back uniform....I did the "Special K" a number of times in my early 40's. I actually used to buy it from a veterinary drug distributor in India. It came in sealed liquid injectable vials...it's intended use, per the manufacturer, was as an anesthesia for large cats. No, I didn't inject it. I gave that up 30plus yrs ago. Instead I emptied it's contents onto a pyrex baking pan and microwaved it until it turned to "frost." I then scraped the frost and snorted it....pure pharmaceutical Ketamine. The experience....even the taste, was the same as PCP. The difference being the ketamine was much weaker and did not last as long. also, the "K", unlike PcP, seemed to be devoid of horrible emotional hangovers. In the spirit of the dead Jim Morrison, I amped up the dose to test the 'limits'(lol) and fell into the proverbial K-hole. Once again...same experience as PcP....this time with the emotional hangover. I agree the best place to try is at home with all the surroundings being familiar and comfortable....what I DON'T agree with however/the remaining 10%...is being alone. I would recommend being instead with a cool girl! especially if she has some previous use experience.....more than likely, together you may "test the limits" winding up naked on the floor with a blissful smile! Enjoy and be careful. REMEMBER; you can always take more if you didn't do enough....but once you've taken too much??/ Well, you'l just have to ride it out....it'll go away and it won't kill you: have fun!

I used to do low doses of ketamine when I went out dancing. It made me feel like I was moving on a cloud because I was completely disassociated from my body. It's funny how your body can still function seemingly on its own without your awareness of it.

The first time I ever did K I was in a club and I did way too much. I k-holed then and there when I leaned into a friend's shoulder. As soon as my head touched her shoulder it felt like I fell through the floor and into some other part of the club.

If its anything like dxm, wait to take it at the end of the night. Disassociatives can be rather intense, especially the first time. So take caution. Ingest it in the safety of your home. You may very well go "limp."

xxzeon alot of the magic with ketamine comes from sensory deprivation, having people around isn't adding to it for sure

if you've not got experience with the drug and dosing it would be a bad idea to do it in a club... the first times you do ket it would be good to have a "trip-sitter", enjoyable music and a calm setting IMo,

also if you have a fair amount read up on what its like to k-hole, so that it doesnt ctch u off guard (hmmmm)
