Nitrous is very safe for you while rolling mega thread

I used to do this all the time but i had a friend die from it so i dont do that shit anymore. He went and did this at home by himself and his parents found him the next day. Apparantly he fell unconcious and he stopped breathing. You cant say its impossible to die from Nitrous as it is quite possible. And what a shitty excuse for a drug, extremely short acting and i dont like feeling like a retard.

I'd like to know if in fact he took nitrous (not just duster) and exactly how he died (what else he was using at the time, ect). I'm not calling you a liar, but you leave a thousand and one things out of your story. Stop trying to scare people.

I wouldn't say that when I use nitrous I "feel like a retard" but whatever you say.

Yeah, I agree. Doesn't sound right. There are some dangers with abuse of nitrous, but it's pretty safe when used properly and I don't think there are any cases of people dying from home use out of a balloon. The few deaths are from things like opening a tank in a car etc.

As far as it being short acting, it really isn't if you mix it with other drugs, like MDMA or LSD. It always makes me trip or roll harder and that part lasts a while. Definitely doesn't make me feel like a retard either.

I'm telling you u do not know what the hell you talking about.
I tried stating it nicely but your obviously a wreckless person that does not listen to logic.
When u inhale a baloon u are getting 100% nitrous. When u exhale your nitrous leaves at a faster rate than room.air(21% oxygen) enters. plus your alveoli are shrunk. This is called dilutional hypoxia. It is very dangerous. You must be in good physical health and remember to breath deeply between hits or you will hurt yourself. I am.an expert in this field. Are you.

What the hell does "going stiff" have to do with anything. You are a Wikipedia educated person. no real knowledge backs up anything u are saying.

Your an expert at taking whipits so now your an authority in the administration of nitrous. Lol.
Try getting a degree in anesthesia...

Diffusion hypoxia with acute use of nitrous is not a significant factor unless one suffers from an airway obstruction or cardiopulmonary disease. Any problems can be avoided by allowing the patient to breath 100% O2 for 3-5 minutes after discontinuation of nitrous oxide.

Of course most people are breathing 21% room air after using 100% nitrous but the point is to breath oxygen in between nitrous! Wearing a mask or breathing multiple balloons will cause you to either get extremely nauseas and/or pass out. The biggest danger of whippets is when it is done consecutively without oxygen or people pass out and hit their heads.

"Hypoxemia is significant for only a matter of minutes and has been documented only when high concentrations (>70%) have been delivered by full mask or by endotracheal tube"
Eger E.I. Pharmacokinetics. In: Eger E.I, editor. Nitrous Oxide. New York: Elsevier; 1985

Good advice from an archived thread:

Don't EVER:

Use industrial/automotive nitrous, or any other form not intended for human consumption. This contains hydrogen sulphide, which is not something you should inhale.
Try to inhale N20 directly from whippits, tank nozzles, or any other point of escaping gas. The gas WILL give you frost burn. Balloon broke? Try a condom or a plastic bag!
Strap a gas mask to your face. If you pass out, you will not be able to remove the mask and will most likely die of oxygen starvation. Yes, people have died doing this.
Lock yourself in a room, closet, car, or refrigerator with a tank of nitrous and open it. Again, the enclosed space will prevent you from receiving the requisite level of oxygen. Yes, people have died doing this.
Stand up and do it. As mentioned previously, doing this is dangerous because you may rapidly collapse after inhalation. Also, stay away from open windows.
Use a large tank without a regulator or which isn't strapped down.
Use homemade nitrous. Unless you are a chemist, you're likely to get a load of rubbish like NO2, H2NO3, and other yummy toxic things.
Allow yourself to lose sight of moderation. No one likes a bong hoarder, and no one likes a Nitrous Whore.

Good post and let me apologise if the op.is breathing 100 percent oxygen via an endotrachial tube between hits from his baloon.

You may laugh, but experience does have some weight. As I have said before, I have been doing nitrous for ten years. I have done hundreds of whippets and I have dozens of old friends who have done the same, many way more than I. I have never seen anyone pass out, and I do not have have noticeable damage. I would absolutely say I have a bit of knowledge about the administration of nitrous.

Never said he/she was breathing oxygen through an endotracheal tube; the article states nitrous administration via endotracheal tube.

The second pubmed article states that patients who were administered nitrous oxide analgesia and who did not receive postcessation oxygen had a mean drop of 2% in their 02 saturation, with the lowest being 92%.

Here is another article which patients receiving nitrous did not have a significant drop is 02 saturation when the nitrous had ceased and the patient were only allowed breath room air:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2007466/?page=1

You must also consider the sheer volume differences of nitrous when one 100% nitrous charger is administered with a balloon over a 20-30 second period vs a tank pumping 70% nitrous for 1-2 hours.

You are being a bit hyperbolic in your statements regarding the dangers of nitrous.

Don't worry, foxy. Just another hater trying to demonize this relatively harmless drug. He doesn't know that I also happen to work in the medical field...in addition with a lot of personal experience not related to work.

Like I said I personally love nitrous but you guys are not understanding the information you are reading. You are mixing clinical patient data under controlled environment with your own wreckless behavior. Nitrous is pretty safe but has its dangers. U need to understand that.

I don't think anyone here thinks it's without danger. Also, you don't know very much about my behavior. It's certainly not wreckless considering I only roll a few times a year.
