Nintendo Wii

Don't know about dates but it is definitely being released on both systems. However the wii one will be much better I think with the new controller.

Wii Ship Date Announced Around Sept.

Today in Japan, Nintendo gave its Management Policy Briefing in which company President Satoru Iwata stated that the ship date announcement would be this September. More over, he said the Wii and the DS would be synchronized, which Shigeru Miyamoto broke to us at E3. While Iwata acknowledged that the Wii had low specs when compared to the PS3 and the Xbox 360, he noted that the function and the aim was totally different.

"When the size of the hardware increase, the sound of the fan gets annoying and the development costs soar," Iwata said. "Services like Wii Connect 24 cannot be developed. In short, I think the balance is important."

He went on to describe the virtual console and said that games would be downloadable at somewhere between 500 yen and 1,000 yen (approximately between US$4 and $8).

Iwata also announced that the DS will act as a touch screen Wii controller and can download demos from the Wii.

A new Wii title called Pokemon Revolution was unveiled. The game will go on sale sometime this winter. This autumn will also see the release of Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl for the DS. The games will take advantage of the DS's voice chat functions.

Nintendo plans to move six million consoles globally before April 1st, 2007, and Iwata pointed out that these units will be sold at a loss.

from what i gather, Nintendo has announced they will announce the ship/release date in Sept.

hahaha. kinda funny, if you ask me.
 
At first I didn't care and just blew off the new nintendo system. Nintendo has been moving downhill fast after the super nes. I hate the N64 and the gamecube. But two things happened that opened my eyes to the nintendo wi....I started smoking alotta pot, and i started to support myself.

The nintendo wi is going to be the cheapest system by far, and it is going to be the ultimate gaming machine for potheads! All the motion sensor games look incredibly fun. The previews for the new warioware? They take gaming in a whole new direction, virtual reality is practically here. So I am very excited. I just hope alotta third party developers hop back onto the nintendo bandwagon. 1st party games were pretty much the only thing that kept the N64 and gamecube alive.
 
nintendo wii on ebay how much?

I need the advice of a nerdy gamer. How much do you think the nintendo wii will go for on ebay. when they come out or during christmas. I just pre ordered one and am curious.

I pre-ordered mine two days ago, too. Damnit, forgot to order Zelda:TTP.

Hmm, it now looks like all the Wii games will be technically no more advanced than GC games. By this I mean thing like polygon count and maybe texture size. This will probably widen the gap between Nintendo and the "jock" concoles like x360 and especially PS3, which is supposed to display "more polygons in a character's moustache than there were in a level of a PS1 game", etc.

But, I'll bet Sony is only showing false pre-rendered stuff all the way through - they did that with PS2, and some PS3 footage has already been verified as fake. My cousing just bought a 360, and I watched him play Quake 4 on it. It didn't even run too well, probably on par with a normal gaming pc setup.

At least there's nothing very fake about Wii, and the games seem very healthy and geniunely fun, so I can only wish it'll do well. I myself won't be getting any of the systems, though.
 
I can't wait to get my wii!! it's all preordered with a nice variety of games...just got to wait for the 8th of december now:(
 
I'll probably be getting a wii. I don't care about uber quality graphics, I just want fun games. :)
 
I bet the women's golf simulation will be really cool.

The first generation games on the Wii actually have similar capabilites as the games that were released at the end of the Xbox's cycle.
 
dragon ball z budokai tenkaichi 2 is finally out in aus. fuckin hell what an awesome but fucking hard game. anyone else busting their forearms playing this?

zelda looked pretty cool on the wii. however when watching the person playing it in the demo of the wii. He was fishing i think. It made him look like a retard because he moved his body with the motion of the controller. So not wanting to look like the demo guy stopped me from purchasing the system
