I realize this is a few months late, but do y'all think the 3ds is a worthwhile investment?

Nay.

It will just piss you off (game selection). The system will probably be a big success, but unless like 4 more Zelda games are going to come out, there just aren't going to be too many titles worth playing. However, the titles that are worth playing that come out will likely be great. Still: NAY.

^ I agree with captainballs.

The lack of *good* games for the 3DS is piss weak, but i did go out and buy it just for Zelda. Which so far imo has been well worth it.

My friend has a 3DS, I was a bit more impressed with the 3d effect than i thought I was going to be. But nothing beats 3d games from your big home console. Even tho I do have to wear glasses, but I really dont see that as an issue

^ Well, not only did I end up buying it, but I just bought the 3DS-XL as well!!

I bought the first one one year ago for the game Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D (which I'm still playing on a daily basis, I have more than 300 hours on it! Great game!), and just couldn't resist buying the XL to have a better gaming experience.

Nobody here has the XL yet?

edit: and I bought quite a few normal DS games too, and that's brilliant! That means you can play DS games on a 3DS, so it's a win win situation imo ;)

i like how on the xl you can take 3d pictures. i was tempted to get one just for that (although you can only view them on the xl).

I bought the 3ds before they came out with the xl. I didn't even know the xl existed until last week. I was pissed lol!

I recently purchased the 3ds xl and I'm really pleased with it. I just couldn't deal with the smaller screen of the original 3ds. I don't use the 3d feature much though, as it starts to hurt my eyes after a while, and you have to hold the 3ds a certain distance away from your eyes to get the perfect 3d effect.

To the ^^above^^ posts regarding game selection(I realize the posts are over a year old), yes it could be better but there are plenty of good games on the original ds that you can still play. If you're an rpg fan, off the top of my head they remade 4 of the dragon quest games(from the snes I believe) as well as final fantasy 3 and 4 for the original ds. There's also the remake of ocarina of time(finished this about 2 weeks ago) for 3ds which is probably the best reason to own the system at the moment imo. Super mario 3d land looks great too.

I haven't really used the camera much but can't you transfer pics onto your sd card and view them on a computer/tablet/etc?
edit - Oh I see what you mean. No you can only view them in 3d on the 3ds :(

Yeah, i remember seeing a two lensed fuji 3d camera on sale a year or two ago. cost heaps back then, and you could only view the images as 3d on the camera itself or on a special fuji digital photo frame. i saw the xl as a cheap alternative. would be awesome to take such photos of my 18 month old as he grows older, but i can't even spare the dosh for the xl :(
