"Nikki", old song by me

Hi everyone,

I've kinda been listening to some of my old songs and a few really touched me insofar as how well I wrote considering the circumstances, and how much I still relate to them. Not all are about drugs, most of them are not as only towards the end of this period of recording was I really struggling with drugs. But here is one that is. I thought it appropriate for bluelight.

"Nikki"

Nikki came home this morning
Alone, her thoughts, and the bed
Turned on the TV
Let the pictures melt in her head

But in her mind she's older
Than she ever thought she would be
Life for her is almost over
But she don't know what it means

To be alive

She said "I waited for the sunlight
And then it burnt my eyes
I waited for my time
And then watched it pass me by"

She lost her focus
Like a needle in her eye
They said "Oh, it's harmless"
And though she knew it was a lie

To be alive

Nikki woke up this morning
And put her thoughts to bed
Turned off the TV
And turned on again

Hey MACstar, thanks I appreciate your reply. I have 25-ish songs recorded, all older unfortunately as I need to fix my 8-track recorder.

Here's a 5 song sample, I can upload more if you need to - it's the first 5 songs on my 'album' that was recorded between 2005-2008 (probably wrote 60ish songs, recorded 25-30 over several years, put this compilation together after the fact). Most of the songs are a bit more developed than Nikki was, with lead guitar and such. Production is non-existent, I don't know much about it and thus only the levels and light effects on instruments/vocals are used.
