Hi :) I take 4mg Risperdone nightly and twas wondering if that could affect my ecstacy consumption although I do not take them anywhere near the same times...often skipping my Rispersone on nights I take mother molly.... Thankies much for the help :)

Risperidone, an atypical anti-psychotic, essentially functions as a cross between an anti-psychedelic and an anti-speed, which means that it generally decreases levels of serotonin, norepinepherine, and dopamine in the brain. Ecstasy, usually meaning MDMA, is a cross between a psychedelic and a stimulant, increasing levels of the aforementioned three neurotransmitters. It will take a lot more of any stimulant or psychedelic, therefore a lot more MDMA or MDx(x) chemicals (which have properties of both) to inebriate you than if you hadn't been taking the Risperidone.

The drug has a half life of 3-20 hours (depending on metabolism) but you can bet that a steady concentration is maintained in anyone's bloodstream if they've been taking it for a few weeks, which I assume you have, so it will only minimally make a difference if you skip your dose.

The dose you are taking is approximately 16 times the lowest therapeutic dose given, and four times the maximum amount usually given to people with bi-polar disorder, which suggests to me that you have been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

On a personal level, I would strongly advise against taking any ecstasy while on Risperidone as not only are you not sure that what you are taking is indeed MDMA, but the dose you're taking suggests you have a serious psychiatric problem that stimulants and psychedelics are extremely likely to make worse. In other words, taking a stimulant or psychedelic is perhaps the worst thing you can do for your brain if you have any sort of psychotic disorder. I know from experience.

You are directly fighting your medication by taking ecstasy.

I know this is heavy.

Antipsychotics ought to make withdrawal way, way worse. you should ask for benzos if you want a tranquilizer.

I totally agree with Ho Chi Minh about this topic.

As the Risperdone is an antagonist (blocker) of the three mentioned neurotransmitters and MDMA causes a release of the three neurotransmitters then these two drugs are literally opposing one another.

As explained by Ho Chi Minh this means you will have to take a much higher dose to get the desired effect.

Not sure if I would advertise the use of Benzos on here as not having a withdrawel effect. I had dreadful withdrawel from these things and would advise anyone to avoid benzos at all costs if you can.

Although I dont suffer from schizophrenia or bipolar I do suffer from OCD and I can confirm with first hand experience mixing MDMA with any type of psychiatric disorder often produces painful results.

I am living this experience at the moment with a long term come down and awful anxiety so please dont take MDMA if you are suffering from anything that resembles a psychiatric disorder.

I realise everything I have said in the post is covered by Ho Chi Minh but I just want to get the message out to people to be careful when dabbling with MDMA up against these conditions. Its a living nightmare trust me.

Please dont mix the Risperdone rutterback. Just out of interest why are you taking it?
