I take 300mg's of seroquel a night for bipolar disorder but lately i had to stop taking it for abit because of the awful night sweats id get from it. Ive recently gone back on it but I'm tapering pretty slow so i am only up to 150mg's. Id wake up drenched in so much cold sweat that it soaked through the sheets that i was lying on. I even had a perfect imprint of my head in the pillow from the sweat :\

Has anyone else experienced this from seroquel? It's the only really bad symptom i get from seroquel so it kind of pisses me off.

i haven't experienced this, i'm currently prescribed 150mg at night, but my insomnia cleared up of sorts so tapered down to 25mg, but sometimes just do 150mg when i'm withdrawing from h and can't sleep, never had any side effects that i've noticed.

Hmm it seems to only happen with seroquel for me so it must be some property seroquel has. I have also been on risperdal (risperidone) up to 4mg's a day, zyprexa (olanzapine) in doses of up to 20mg's a day and i have also taken chlorpromazine (good old Thorazine/largactil). None of these gave me nights sweats.

Unfortunately the only atypical's my insurance cover are seroquel and risperidone. I'm not a big fan of risperidone due to it's zombie effect and a few other side effects. So i may have to go back to the risperidone or try and typical anti-psychotic.

It's funny that you say that - I started on Seroquel not too long ago, and I've been experiencing the same thing occassionally. But for some reason I never pinned it on the Seroquel. Also, my psychiatrist has told me that low-ish doses (25-50 mg) can often be more sedating than higher doses (100 mg, which he switched me to because I was complaining about the drowsiness). Does anyone know if that's true? I just jumped up to 100 mg today, and it seems to hold true, but this is only day 1 so it's hard to say for sure...

Well ive heard one other person i know complain about night sweats from seroquel. He gave up taking it and got switched to zyprexa instead. He has better drug coverage then me :\ . I don't know if drowsiness goes away with higher doses so much as you become tolerant to the drowsiness which is caused by it's anti-histamine effects for the most part. I become tolerant to the drowsiness fairly quickly but i do notice more drowsiness for awile whenever i increase the dose.
