I have read that smoking cigarettes decreases xanax concentration in the brain. What I want to know is do you guys notice this with just a few cigarettes a day or is this only for the pack a day smokers?
Interesting. I started taking benzos in 1991, and have never heard anything like this . It's funny, though, that when I take a good dose of xanax after not having any for a while, and I start feeling it come on, a cigarette (or 10) is the most delicious, wonderful thing on the planet. LOL
No I don't have a source for where I found the information. I remember that the aprozolam was suposed to metabolize faster. I want a cig now but I won't smoke until I know for sure. I only smoke about 5 cigarettes a day most days so I don't notice any change but I'm not sure if I would notice the difference as I"m on a low dose of xannies so I'm going to try and do an experiment.
On a side note I love smoking a cigarette after that much needed xanny...
nicotine doesn't affect benzos such as xanax, but the hydrocarbons produced when tobacco is smoked induces the 3A4 enzymes. these enzymes are the main contributors oh processing active xanax particles into metabolites and nonactive materials. not sure if this is from chronic smoking or just a single puff of tobacco.
